If you're ever on a rural then you will find that most farms have an outside toilet for the farm workers. Might not be the cleanest, but hey needs must....

Yeah, got to admit I adjust my intake when working. Only drink a single coffee in the morning and sip on water when I'm out and about. And then I'm all good for one or less toilet breaks. You just get used to gauging what to consume and when you'll need to stop, there is nothing worse than having to stop for a toilet break when there aren't many options around. But men have it easier in this respect, at a pinch we can usually find somewhere.

The thing about being a postie is that it's very jarring when you first begin. It's very physical, if you're not used to that it's bloody exhausting to begin with, after my first few shifts I was knackered, and starving (almost shaking from low blood sugar). My legs hurt from all the walking.

Nowadays, I can skip breakfast, complete a park & loop round at high intensity, even without stopping for food or a break. Have lunch and then go to the gym. It's impressive how your body can and will adapt.

It should be on the walk log. It's a disgrace. And you are not allowed (officially) to go into a pub on duty in uniform, unless delivering. Don't let them bend the rules to make it easier for them while you hold your 'P' in. Tell your lino that you need to come back to the office. This 20 min x 2 breaks is crap anyway. You should have time written into your duty to travel to office have your 40 mins and travel back time. Even when RM make the breaks unpaid, you will still get numpties working for nought. :arrrghhh

God I have heard of the burning bush but not the peeing bush Moses would have had a heart attack. But seriously human dignity should prevent all actions of such indignity inflicted by management targets but as we all know they only care about themselves!

Every round should have a wrap book, red folder on top of the frame. This should be updated regularly re. Comfort breaks, dogs and other hazards. Ask the office health and safety rep, if the folder is missing or not updated in the past year. Do not restrict your fluids for any reason, dehydration isn't fun. Ask in shops, offices, pubs etc but remember to keep the mail secure, weeing in public is considered indecent exposure, not a conviction to be brushed of as a laugh. If you apply for other jobs, you will have declare it, would stop you from working with children and vunerable people. As previously mentioned, if all else fails return to the office. You'll concentrate far easier if you're not bursting too. If your duty is too long for two comfort breaks in 5-6 hours, that's how long my walk is, cut off, don't rush, make mistakes and compromise mail security. Your kidneys will thank you!

But why not return to office and pee and take meal relief at the same time also inform managers if they can be found. Of the problems that have or may set you back at the same time sure they would love it as well it probably will stop them bickering about who has the easy section/job!

Although better to try and find a shop / gp surgery etc to use their facilities, or return back to the office.

Trouble is shops expect you to buy something so it's more than spending a penny Gp surgerys are closing at a record rate and why should women pee in the gutter it's not like they are in a marathon race and one woman was all over the papers for it the next day. Royal Mail should amend the duty structure for all so a return to office is mandatory with meal relief in between two deliveries it once was the case it would save a lot of sick absence and would help solve problems like this!

I recently had a Local Hotel change management. The Old Owners were quite happy to let me use the toilet. The New Owner said she didn't want the Hotel used as a Public Toilet. I said "No Problem". :whistle

She used to get her mail in the First Pouch, nice & early. I then used to save her mail until last and deliver it just before I returned to the Office. When she asked why she was getting her mail later I told her, "I have to spend much longer now trying to find a Restaurant, or Pub, so that I can use their toilet"! The moral of this story is don't piss the Postie Off... he knows where you live. :cuppa
