working to your time
why does working to your time still not get through to some people, if you're out till whatever time you are meant to finish then they cant ask you to take part of another walk or duty.
beside us some are in early out early and dont give a monkey what we say to them about racing round, the problem is managers ask the rest of us why are we so slow when we are only doing the job the way it should be done.

Re: working to your time
The only reason i would come in early on any day is sort my pennies out, and the reason i do that is ebcause i am dyspraxic and its takes me longer to sort out my round then other people. Otherwise i come in at 7.30 when i am suppose to. I am actually noticing that on most days some of my walk has already been prepped for me.mailman71 wrote:why does working to your time still not get through to some people, if you're out till whatever time you are meant to finish then they cant ask you to take part of another walk or duty.

It's unfair to compare the speed of delivery from one postman to the next. There will always be some that are quicker and some that are slower - just like a horse race - If all the horses ran at the same speed and ALL the horses finished the race at the SAME time then wouldn't life be boring! So, the managers ought to ease off a bit and realize the posties are ONLY HUMAN - Such is life!

When people work to there time (cut off) at our place they have to sign a form in front of manager which explains the rules arounding cutting off. They also get a 2 page sheet explaining the procedure and what exactly to do. Does every office do this? Alot refuse to sign it but others feel they have too.

I cut off today and as usual had to put up with the usual round of sarcastic comments from the screws.
It is becoming harder every week as my walk is 4 hours long and I have to cut off 2-3 times a week, and the days that I don't cut off I have to struggle right up to the last minute of time.
It seems they want every minute of work they can get,and they wanted me to work overtime every day to clear the walk, but I refused as before you know it you will be working forced 12 hour shifts, and they will say they haven't got anyone to cover you.
All those who are doing over your 8 hours 20 should refuse,as you are not doing yourselves any favours and are encouraging the screws to make a habit of relying on you to do o/t every day.
The overtime you do in the afternoon is at less than single time.
The overtime is not pensionable.
You will not receive holiday pay in relation to this overtime.
You will not receive sick pay in relation to this overtime.
It is basically casual third world labour and you are doing someone else out of a job.

"Yeah, well get so and so to do it then. I can't and I won't be working over my time".opgpat wrote:stay strong wild cat - they do the exact same to me, oh so and so can do it in the time, you don't need that long to do it.
The number of times I've said that..... Well, twice anyway. After that they got the picture. Now they don't waste their coffee drinking time to ask me to do O/T or work my day off. Suits me!
