Very interesting to compare where we are now with PDA actuals to the 2018 agreement that clearly states the PDA actuals will never be used to track us or punish us.
Also on the other links there are GDPR statements clearly stating who can view the data. Compare this to RMs intention to import all the data to the Google Cloud. If access to the PDA data is truly limited what is the point in exporting all the data to the cloud?
A lot of references to RCS hours which I don't completely understand.

They're probably saving the data in the cloud due to the sheer scale the data they will accumulate, they would need to spend a fortune on servers to store it all on so why bother when they can pay someone else to use their storage?

calm down everyone, RM are a business and there only doing what every other business in the uk is doing.
If you contracted to work from 8-2 then work from 8-2, take your break, do the job properly they will see how long you need to deliver a parcel, they can track your speed in the van.

In a normal company such as a factory the 'tracker spying on you' is the boss who tells you there and then if your doing something they dont like.If your at a clocking in machine early so is the boss in a normal place and you get a pretty hard bollocking believe me.

This is just RM catching up with modern britain.

PDAs don't clock what time posties actually started indoors and this is just as important, if not more so, than the outdoor element.

royal mail aren't bothered about what time you start BUT they are very interested in what time you finish and this can be done with the pda through logging off , and wait till they get all the extra / ghost o/t done for free if its within your contracted daily hours , its coming.

And so it should. Why is it fair someone on an easy walk finishing early effectively gets double time till their finish time doing ghost, while someone on a long walk doesn't?

In order to show that the other walk was "easier" we would have to have the difficult question about standards and as a union rep I can tell you it's not a route we want to go down.

RM should be bothered about what time we start and whether we have taken our breaks as well as what time we finish.

I totally agree with you they should , but they aren't as they would have brought in clocking in if they where to benefit off it , but they maybe think if they did bring this in all the free early morning work would stop , and posties would take meal breaks ,and use the tools unless your

, and people would do the job as they want you to then they would see how the company is run on free , goodwill or whatever they want to call it , overtime would increase or deliverys would fail at a massive level.

Most walks are as easy or as hard as the people doing them make them but I'm sure everyone will be rejoicing when royal mail's outdoor standards get brought in and everyone is measured against them using the pdas. All those massive duties will be shown to be massive and easy duties will shown to be easy when everyone has a minimum pace to work at I'm sure of it.
Funny thing is though a high up union bod has been saying that royal mails use of the data isn't about making sure everyone works every minute of contracted hours but more about what gets done within them hours
