If I'm looking to leave the company and I've only been here 6 months. Do I still have to use RM as a reference for my next employment, and if so, who do I list?
Or can I use the job I held previously to RM.

That depends on the requirement of any future employer if they give you the Option that you don't have to use RM.
However RM references are done centrally, not locally, and they list only basic information
