Hello Newbie here. I'm sure this has been asked before, but can't find anything on a search.

What is the policy on delivering leaflets to houses with no junk mail signs? I get the impression and the others guys in the office also say they are ignored.

Needless to say on my first round I had a stroppy customer practically throw them back in my face.

Yep, If challenged just politely agree that whilst it is annoying you are obliged to deliver them unless they have officially opted out. Advise them to go to royalmail .com and select opt out of d2d and within a couple of weeks a no d2d sticker should appear on their slot in the sorting frame and they will have one thing less to moan about in their miserable lives.

Leaflets count as first class mail
Unless the reciever official Opts-out

And if they do opt out you'll have a card amongst your redirections you do in the morning before bagging up

Others that say don't deliver or whatever, is wrong
Company's pay big money for this service
It'll be like you sending letters out and the postman going "naahhh don't want to" , you've paid money for the service, and it should be provided

I thought posties have been in trouble before (possibly sacked?) for making people aware of the opt out service?

I have had grief for delivering when there has been a note on the door. Your safety comes first. Don't deliver when there is a sign regardless of opt out. Why spoil your day or at worst get assaulted.

Sort of, he actually circulated a leaflet of his own making I assume, telling people about the opt out service

Might be wrong but if the note on the door says no leaflets then it’s no leaflets. Can’t be doing with aggressive customers asking Me if I can read.

:hmmmm Bit of a difference in educating the odd moaner and actively encouraging all the people on your delivery to opt out but would suggest that if you don't want the hassle of delivering it then it needs endorsing as refused and needs to be handed back to the lino. We have had people conducted for putting unwanted d2d in the bin as they apparently have the same status as 1st class mail.(depending on what mood the Dom is in of course)

Some years ago there was a FOI request about this very situation and the official RM response was the postman could face dismissal for failing to deliver the D2D leaflets.

What about if somebody gives you them back? I'm always unsure what do with them. Usually I just stick them through some random door.
