I’ve been working with Royal Mail about 6 weeks now. Most things have gone quite well, only negative was overtime being paid.... until now at least.
During the interview I was asked about any days booked, I simply asked for 2 separate days, but said they’re not absolutely necessary, but would be ideal.
I also confirmed them via email to the recruitment team during the waiting phase.
I also confirmed with my manager very early on. I asked him how are they worked, I book the 2 days fore mentioned before I started, he said if they were mentioned they would be honoured. I thought great, he showed me where the holiday forms were kept and asked me to fill it in and bring it back. I did so the following day along with my wage slip as I’ve not been paid right again. I left thinking everything was fine, he told me they should be honoured, I had also done everything I had been asked of.
Today on my birthday, one of the days I booked off was left with multiple messages off 2 people and missed calls and voicemails. The messages stating that today will go down as an unauthorised absence as there he’s unaware of any pre-booked holidays!
Is there any advice on the matter that someone could share? I have the email I sent to the recruitment team, but as for the interview and me telling my manager in person along with the form is not obtainable for myself.
I messaged him back with all of the above, about the processes I’ve followed. I’m not sure what else I could’ve done. I’m obviously still in my probationary period and don’t want this to tarnish my record.

Pre-booked holidays
You haven't tarnished your record.
Speak to your coach, and the local rep if you are in the Union. Take a copy of the email with you and you should be fine.
The manager has f***** up not you, hopefully, they'll be fine with you explaining it to them on the message.

Pre-booked holidays
Print of your email you sent to HR when applying, you should have emailed them your pre booked holidays, to which it also states HR will message your manager these dates

Pre-booked holidays
Thanks for the replies.
I’ve sent a copy of the email to him that I sent to the recruitment team during the application phase. I also reminded him that I had told him of my holidays, among other people during the process.
He said he’ll speak to the boss tomorrow, so hopefully it’ll be sorted.
