Waterproof Jacket for New Starts

Post by smartecosse »

Starting shortly in a delivery role and called the Helpline to order the uniform.

Very helpful and all done except that I was told that I am unable to order a waterproof jacket until I have been employed for 6 weeks.

Is that actually the case? Likelihood of six weeks without rain in Scotland is slim to none.

I thought I had read somewhere that there was a basic waterproof jacket for new starts but I've read so many posts I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks

I’m sure there was a trial waterproof jacket for new starters. Don’t know if that’s the case anymore. If I’m honest, the waterproofs are useless anyway. You stay dryer in a fleece during light rain and your own jacket will be more waterproof than royal mails gear for heavier rain.

After 6 weeks, the new starter can order the full allocation of uniform (excluding the waterproof coat, where a new starter coat has been provided) for their job role.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

What’s the difference between a “new starter coat” and a “waterproof” coat?

I couldn’t order a coat until 6 weeks. I just wore my own until then.

I find it hard to believe that nobody in the office has an old one or one they don't use.
Alternatively there is always ebay. (Other auction sites are available)

I’ve been trying to call the uniform phone number for some extra shorts but every time I phone it says they’re unavailable. Isn’t there a website I can order this sort of thing from? If anyone could give me link I would appreciate

You need a staff number, the password is Delivery and you'll need to change it when you log in. You'll also need an email address (doesn't have to be a RM one), and the name of a manager.
