Post has been damaged in a fire at a Royal Mail sorting office.
The blaze broke out in the building in Stornoway on Lewis.

Four fire crews tackled the fire and now have the blaze under control.

The 15 members of staff working in the building were evacuated after the alarm was raised and no-one was hurt.

Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service said that 20% of the building suffered fire damage, while there was smoke damage throughout the rest of the office. They are investigating the cause of the fire.

Royal Mail said that some mail was spoiled, but that it was too early to say what impact the blaze would have on deliveries.

A spokesman said: "Our next priority will be to salvage as much mail as possible for our customers.

"We have not been able to access the office yet, so it is impossible to assess the impact at this stage, however, we would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience this unfortunate incident may cause to their mail service.

"Royal Mail will now be looking for alternative premises as a matter of urgency in an effort to minimise disruption to customers."

There are 46 Royal Mail staff based at the Stornoway Delivery Office which is situated in the town's Sandwick Road.

As long as no one was hurt, that's the main thing.

The DOM probably left the kettle on and went home early :whistle
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I don't think it had anything to do with the kettle. I think it was the computer, because there's definitely "hotmail" in the office now!!

Manager probably tried to forward it to his Royal Mail account and when asked for POP details went round the shop to get a bottle of coke.
