How do you claim £34? I will be taking the note from my GP.

Are RM shoes compulsory?
Anybody on here who thinks Royal Mail footwear is compulsory is talking a load of rubbish , Take the trouble to read this section from a letter about the Uniform agreement.
"Indeed, during our talks on the revised agreement, both parties agreed and accepted that there should be no direct increase in the use of this part of the agreement, both in terms of footwear and other uniform items, as a result of the revised agreement and the new focus which would no doubt result from the agreement being issued.
Therefore, if individual members do not wish to wear Royal Mail footwear, which will also include members who due to medical reasons do not wear standard footwear and are reimbursed as such, then this remains the case as long as it is in keeping with the uniform and the footwear is sensible and sturdy footwear with good grip. "

Anybody wanting this clarified should get in touch with their Area safety rep and if he is unsure, get him to contact CWU HQ.

Are RM shoes compulsory?
jennie-c wrote:I don't have a health issue regarding RM footwear, I find them heavy and uncomfortable for wearing while out on delivery. My office is now saying all posties must wear RM footwear, but up until now we had been allowed to wear whatever footwear we wanted. Can they insist I wear them? I think i'll end up with foot problems if I wear them for long periods of time, and would prefer to wear my own plain black comfortable walking shoes which I have worn for the past 3 years. Is it documented somewhere that RM footwear is compulsory to be worn?
Are RM shoes compulsory? This is 2 different questions:
Under H&S rules it is permissible to wear shoes that match or are better than Royal Mail safety ratings.
However, as the shoes form part of the uniform it is a reasonable request that they ask you to wear them as part of the corporate image.
The way around it is to get a doctors note saying that the issues shoes cause you medical problems that would be relieved if you were allowed to purchase your own.

From what I an see there is nothing in that link that states what Zip states, there must be a different doc somewhere that he is quoting from...TrueBlueTerrier wrote:https://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communi ... 36&t=87159" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;yellowbelly wrote:ZIPM - have you got a link to the letter/document you've quoted?zipmeister wrote:...... It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Are RM shoes compulsory?
We had an OPG in our branch that wanted to take RM to court over footwear in that a manager had repeatedly ignored requests to order RM footwear for him, this resulted in him developing a severe case of Plantar Fasciitis which resulted in him being given IHR. We contacted HQ and were told it could not be done as RM footwear is not compulsory. I have an email confirming that but I am not comfortable putting it online without the PEC members permission. Anybody arguing this with DOM's or line managers should get their ASR to contact HQ for confirmation.

A fair point I have to say,and we all know that good footwear costs money, and they won’t pay good money,I just think that after some 37 years of deliveries my feet are gonna be messed up regardless of the footwear?but this footwear thing is the same grey area, some doms enforcing it,some not and you can wear what you like,aiden01 wrote:rambo1 wrote:You're not buying shoes for this firm.
