Your coach shouldn’t be telling you to walk sort the mail. It’s actually against RM policy and if you were to trip/slip whilst doing it you would be at fault. Saying that, I’m pretty sure the fair majority of long standing posties do it, but whilst you’re still learning, thinking about which way you’re going, which direction the gate opens, easiest way to hold your bundle, remembering what packets you have in your pouch..etc etc...sort your mail for the next house while stationary. If your partner doesn’t like it ‘tuffus titus’ as they say in Latin
