E-Trikes: Will this work?
Yes, saw these today when they did a piece on the lunch time news. Could be good, dependent on a lot of factors, obviously, but I'd love to be cycling rather than driving a van.redneck wrote:Great idea, bring it on. Can't quite see the need to wear a helmet though, unless it's to stop the eggs and bricks being lobbed by the piss taking kids on the local estate. That's the only drawback for me, the design- they could work on that a little bit, make it a little less 'Camberwick Green.'
Sooner or later, a beat dog bites.

Yeah I agree, crimson king. I like the idea of Royal Mail testing this e-trike, but the design needs work.crimson king wrote:redneck wrote:That's the only drawback for me, the design- they could work on that a little bit'
Back in the States we have a lot of UPS e-trikes. And I remember seeing FedEx using them in Paris when I was visiting there. Better designs with those ones (except the UPS color - ugh!).

Funniest thing I've seen for a while

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Might work in York as it's the only city thats: a. Flat. b. Is cycle friendly. Anywhere else forget it for many many reasons that previous contributers have mentioned.

If it is electric then being none flat shouldn't be an issue in bigger towns/cities. In bigger places with many DOs it shouldn't be such an issue as you are normally close to where your round is. It may take a bit longer to get to the starting point and getting back to the depot but during delivery the vans don't move too far. Obviously increase in driving time would need to be taken into account. They would be a none starter for rural / undense areas.Nick b wrote:Might work in York as it's the only city thats: a. Flat. b. It shouldn't be ruled out. It is about using it in the right scenario. I'd love to use one.
