stuartG81 wrote:how many day/weeks noice does your DOM need if you want a week off, been working nearly every fooking day since i joined RM 6 months ago and not had A/L yet im actually getting stressed out through it and returned 2 full bags of mail today because i just couldn't be bothered anymore
As for the issue of Annual Leave, the National Annual Leave Agreement states:

Prior to annual leave signing, the Staff Resourcing Manager in Mail Centres and the line manager in other operational units, will have discretion to grant specific requests for particular periods of leave from individual employees based on their exceptional and unavoidable personal circumstances. This will include meeting the commitments of employees new to the unit where they join with holidays already arranged, without disadvantaging existing staff with agreed leave already allocated.

However as to how much notice your DUM needs is down to your local agreement, although one weeks notice for a weeks leave should be surfice and 2 days notice for individual days. Check with whoever deals with the annual leave in your office and find out if there are any vacant leave slots available.

I hope this helps

Put it this way Stuart, at least you won't have to worry if it's a yes vote or a no vote

ANNUAL LEAVE

Post by GONZO1967 »

IF YOU HAVE JUST JOINED ROYAL MAIL THEN YOU WILL MOST LIKELY BE ON A TEMPORARY CONTRACT, IT USED TO BE ONE WEEK OFF FOR EVERY 13 WEEKS. THIS CAN BE TAKEN DURING THE 13 WEEKS OR AT THE END OF IT. EXPLAIN TO YOUR DOM THAT BY LAW YOU ARE ENTITLED TO ANNUAL LEAVE AND GIVE HIM VARIOUS DATES THAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SO THAT HE CAN GRANT YOU ONE OF THE PERIODS. BEAR IN MIND THAT XMAS IS ROUND THE CORNER AND THAT THROUGH THE MONTH OF DECEMBER NO ANNUAL LEAVE IS GRANTED UNLESS IT IS EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES.
