Guessing I haven’t got the job
I had an interview last week for Postman/Postwoman with driving and collection duties. Before the interview the interviewer said that he’d get me to read a number plate after. After the interview which I thought went really well, he showed me the way out but didn’t get me to read any number plate. I’m guessing I didn’t get the job then?

He might’ve just forgot. I’ve never heard of anyone getting an eye test during the interview stage.Quarterpastnine wrote:I had an interview last week for Postman/Postwoman with driving and collection duties. I don’t know, find it hard he forgot when It was one of the first things he mentioned to me, on top of that, it’s a driving role too, it’s compulsory they get you to do that for driving roles

The fact you have a driving licence is enough to show your capable to drive. When you start with Royal Mail your given what they call a changeover, this involves a full assessment of your driving capabilities including reading a number plate from a set distance. This is for insurance purposes only, your assigned either low, medium or high risk for driving. Therefore it’s possible that he did in fact forget as it isn’t his job to do it.Quarterpastnine wrote:I don’t know, find it hard he forgot when It was one of the first things he mentioned to me, on top of that, it’s a driving role too, it’s compulsory they get you to do that for driving roles
I wouldn’t dwell on the fact that you haven’t heard back in a week as Royal Mails recruitment process is nutoriously slow. I’ve heard of people that still haven’t heard back from the interview in 2-3 weeks. Personally, I was 3 months from applying for the job to starting. The fact that you haven’t received a response yet is a good thing as the first thing they do when your not suitable is email you to let you know, however in many cases your placed on a 6 month waiting list for when a suitable vacancy comes up.
Best of Luck.

Guessing I haven’t got the job
No need to worry I didn’t read a number plate in my interview in November and got the job
