I bought an iPad 2 years ago. The tax I have to pay is £5.29 a month for 12 months. It's worked out WAY more expensive than buying it outright but if it's coming out of my wages every week I don't miss it.

I've just had a new phone through the scheme.

Technology is guaranteed for loss or damage for the time you are paying for it (24 months) which is a bonus.

This is all covered in the terms you agree to.
Do you not read what you are going to be paying?
2. During the period between the date of your first Weekly salary reduction and the date of your th and final Weekly salary reduction (the "period of salary exchange"), you agree to the reduction in your gross salary in accordance with your selection as detailed overleaf by way of a salary exchange arrangement.

3. The provision of the Package is a non-cash benefit in kind on which you will pay income tax. The annual cash equivalent value of the package is 20% of the market value; the tax payable on this amount will be collected by an adjustment to your tax code. The Weekly amount of salary you agree to exchange in connection with the provision of a non-cash benefit (i.e. the Package) will be regarded as a pensionable emolument.

Honestly, this “issue” seems like another complete non issue, a reason to moan.

You got a great item, paid for it weekly, you’re told what it’ll cost, the tax implications and then you’re moaning because you have to pay a few quid a week more at the end?!?

It’s like the catalogue buying from years back, bought something nice, paid £1 a week for 3 years and then realise it costs you twice as much than if you’d saved up and bought it normally.

This sort of moaning is endemic of RM.

There are true issues, real problems but yet so many staff moan and whine about everything and anything everyday without either doing something about it or changing.

The sort of BS spouted at times would get you up before HR in a proper company, suspended and sacked.

In the grand scheme of things, this jobs a piece of piss. I know it’s changed massively over 5, 10, 20 years. Most jobs have.

Either move with the times or become extinct like the dinosaurs.

Can't understand what people are complaining about, it's a great way of getting an expensive piece of technology if you can't afford to buy it outright. Even if you do end up paying more than you would if you brought it outright, when paying a few pounds out of your wages, you'll hardly notice it

You are basically getting taxed twice for this service as you still don’t own it at the end of the payment term.
They then value your kids 2 year old sticky iPad that struggles to load a YouTube video and make you pay for another 12 months. If you are the type of person that would quite happily rent a washing machine then dive right in but if not leave well alone!!!!
