As a lot of part-timers will point out, we come in to find only the Mech has been done with piles of mail still to throw up plus usually 1 or 2 yorks of packets ( if we are lucky, some of the D2Ds will be done ) ....meanwhile many of the full-timers are just starting to bag-up and are out the door by 9.Decky Boy wrote:The Delivery Supplement is not paid for preparation or delivery of Door2Doors. Rather It is/was "a hard won" additional supplement (achieved by your trade union) to all in the delivery function ( paid pro rata on hours worked) back in the day when the business decided to takeaway D2D payments and implement a whole lot of other stuff ! ! !
I could be crass and ask "as a part-timer , what exactly do you do on a daily basis other than tie up and deliver you job ?" ... but I won't ... but will add that your full time colleagues have been in well before you and will have been working hard to get the office ready to get out on time !
And to the original poster... I trust and sincerely hope you are part of the Union ?

Fair comment. I know it happens... I was part-time myself for many years ! ! ! And as an OPG you have two options... to just work until finishing time and recieve the Delivery Supplement pro rata OR work on and get an increased supplement ?JKSmudge wrote:As a lot of part-timers will point out, we come in to find only the Mech has been done with piles of mail still to throw up plus usually 1 or 2 yorks of packets ( if we are lucky, some of the D2Ds will be done ) ....meanwhile many of the full-timers are just starting to bag-up and are out the door by 9.Decky Boy wrote:The Delivery Supplement is not paid for preparation or delivery of Door2Doors. The rest of the office have been getting it for about 8 years now... myself and anyone else who started at this office after it was implemented don't get it at all even though we also to have to do the perma-lapsing to ensure it continues getting paid.
Makes me feel really valued.

The lapsing you do now does not pay for the "efficiency bonus".wacko74 wrote:The one that really grates with me is the ongoing ''efficiency bonus'' that everyone in my office gets once a month, mostly achieved thanks to the double lapsing that we do most days... except I don't get it because I wasn't working at this office when it was first implemented.
It relates to savings made ages ago.
I get it and no-one else in my current office gets anything.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Weird, anyone who is "tagged" to deliveries should be getting itwacko74 wrote:redneck wrote:Never heard of that. I'm pretty sure you had to be in the business by a certain date to get it. Loads of people in our office don't. I remember one bloke going ballistic when he found out this bonus existed as he wasn't entitled to it.SpacePhoenix wrote:Weird, anyone who is "tagged" to deliveries should be getting itwacko74 wrote:redneck wrote:Never heard of that. You haven't factored in the fact they still get it paid when there are fewer D2D, when they are on holiday and when they are sick.97gaz wrote: Some of our part timers lost up to £18 a week (3 D2D were worth £30 on a 600 call round with three D2D). They lost £8 a week when they had 2 D2D.

You've miss-quoted me son and it's not appreciated ! ! ! You are well entitled to your point of view but quoting someone after modifying a post and inserting your own ideas only hampers any argument and "the thread" in general. Doing so results in fake news....97gaz wrote:Decky Boy wrote:Rather It is/was "a hard won" additional pay cut for lots of part timers and a pay rise for some full timers who don't touch a D2D.
I've fixed your mistake for you.
Some of our part timers lost up to £18 a week (3 D2D were worth £30 on a 600 call round with three D2D). They lost £8 a week when they had 2 D2D. On the other hand most of the full timers in our predominantly rural office came out winners.
When I mentioned a equal cut across the board to an area rep I was told they couldn't do it like that because "the full timers would be upset that the part timers would effectively be on a higher hourly rate than the full timers"
Some of our PT left the Union over that. They thought the Union was fighting for everyone.Decky Boy wrote: to the original poster... I trust and sincerely hope you are part of the Union

this debate re delivery supplement and d2d payments as gone on for years, we all know 1 replaced the other but officially it didn't
it was agreed between the cwu & rm to sugarcoat a pay deal in which some benefited and some lost, i remember 1 guy used to average £60 p/w on weight,
basically a lot got something and a few got little, fast forward a few years and a few still get something but a lot more get a little
1 thing that stuck in my mind was that a P/T'er will never ever have to prep a d2d again as it will be done by a F'T'er
