Hi everyone!
I'm in the security checks phase - will be working part time, 5 days of 6. Was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of how far in advance I'm likely to know which day (apart from Sunday) I'm getting off? I'm a performer and it'd be good if I can book gigs out of town ahead of time but I understand that that might not be a go-er. At interview, it was mentioned that they would try to accommodate specific days but I know that isn't guaranteed and I wouldn't want to ask too often.
Cheers!

You're not going to like the answer but the ambition in most offices is to have the Rota up two weeks in advance. Even if this does happen unfortunately people don't give two weeks notice that they're going to be sick and as a reserve you'll be covering sick absence as well as annual leave.
If it's a decent office you should get at least 6 weeks on the same route to let you bed in which will at least give you some grace to completely change your life to suit Royal Mail which is kind of the expectation.

Thanks for the answer! It's ok - most jobs make it difficult to nip off across the country midweek and there's gigs locally. Would be nice to gig further afield but it doesn't earn enough to keep me going so it'll have to work around RM hours.
