re: Depends on the size of the business mail market
In reality only Mailsort 2 is being targetted by competitors. It's almost impossible to break into the Mailsort 3 market without delivering the mail themselves.
The companies get paid and then handover most of the revenue to RM. So whilst RM have lost the contract they still retain most of the revenue, it just means tha RM's collection and especially outward processing capability is less efficicent than before. The delivery side hasn't changed regardless of liberalisation. But overall RM has lost revenue and therefore their fixed costs (staff) are now more expensive per unit than before.
NOw is probably a better time for people to separate the Royal Mail pipeline. I understand the organisation has done this in operational management with heads of processing, delivery etc.... RM are following a similar path to BT, so best to look at how they faired
Good luck with the strike, lucky I don't send any mail and what I recieve is mainly junk anyway!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

This is the response from the branch secretary of st neots and district labour party after i emailed him the two videos to watch.
These guys are obviously talking bollocks esp re: the win-win, lose-lose dichotomy relating to taking/not taking ind action. They repeated this several times and contradicted themselves on other questions which suggests that they are making it up. Sounds to me like they're just intimidating/threatening the workforce - hopefully nobody is taking this seriously.
Still mystified as to why the CWU has not put PH as no 1 recomendation as he has publicly guaranteed support for a review of competition (see his website) with a DLL saying this it is almost guaranteed to happen.

re: You trust Peter Hain
If any of you trust these guys to carry out what they say then you are pretty naive. Hain like the others would sell their own mothers if it got them votes. If they're so good they why don't they run for the leadership election rather than for some freak show position called deputy leader. What does the deputy leader do?

Drives 2 Jags and thumps people. What does the deputy leader do?
Though seriously as we cant vote for the Leader the only chance, albeit a small one, to change anything is to vote for the one you distrust least. IMHO thats Hain.

Acts as the link between party and goverment, ensuring the lab PM/leader is aware and understands the concerns of the rank and file who after all are the ones who with their campaining and hard work win the elections.
Based on that do you think prescott has done a good job as deputy leader of lab party
Dont confuse dep leader though with dep PM 2 different jobs done by one man !
Jon Cruddas is a CWU MP and is 2nd choice recomendation from CWU NEC
Ive got some info on the CWU NEC recomendations for deputy leader biut have been asked not to quote my source on it as they have their info froma source so unable to fully confirm yet.
All i will say is my hunch that the choice of AJ is down to the non postal side of the NEC is a very good hunch, however i am told that the postal mbrs of the NEC could outvote the non postal side if they chose to do so.
Perhaps attendance at the meeting from the postal side compared to the others should be compared? hint hint
Billy is supposed to be sending some details and info out on NEC choice this week then we will hopefully have ALL the facts!

You might need to start sending some letters when you are out of a job as Big Al and Little ad want 40,000 jobs was it?F0zziebear wrote:

You may not be a manager any more but you still talk like one and perhaps you have not had the brainwash reversal op yet.

And another thing as you quite happily quote the mails pipeline, you refer to mailsort as Junk Mail! Don't forget that it is that very Junk Mail that pays most of your wages!
I send off for lots of Boucher's etc 1 because the subject interests me but 2 to help pay my wages. If we don't help ourselves who else is going to help us?

Good point - however F0zzie is not in RM, used to be but left. Now currently between jobs and giving us an insight to what management think. (Though why they can't get out of London and call in and see a SO or DO or even MDEC in operation is beyond me).fedup postie wrote:And another thing as you quite happily quote the mails pipeline, you refer to mailsort as Junk Mail!
