Cheers Caesar, fingers crossed that you become successful shortly, it just seems to take any age & you don’t really get any feedback when you apply. You don’t seem to get any acknowledgement when the date of the interview has been & gone which can be frustrating lol.Just going to keep applying & hopefully get a position

Thanks Lacoste blue 12
I've only got just over 2 weeks left on the waiting list so I've got my fingers crossed very tightly. I've still got 3 applications open and still stalking the job site for more.
At the end of my waiting list period, it will have been 8 months since I first applied for a post so I'm really hoping that I don't have to start all over again.

You’re welcome bud, i am now on to my 12th application as of yesterday, will keep on trying & wont give up easily. Can see why a lot of people get put off when the process is agonisingly slow & you don’t get any reply when you email looking for information or help in getting to the interview stage(At least).Nevertheless not giving up & will keep on going forward.

I left royal mail in March 2018 as i couldnt get a transfer to another part of the country to look after my dying father,he eventually passed away 6 months later.I had been with royal mail for nearly 10 years with a clean record,i decided to apply for several roles within my region but have been unsuccesful up to now,i have to date applied for over 40 vacancies never getting to the interview stage, all very hard to take as my former delivery office manager told me i could walk back into my old position tomorrow as the office is recruiting, the problem being i now live 280 miles away, anyone have any suggestions ?

rob smith, sorry to hear about your father.
If you are struggling to get an interview after your long service, I can only guess that you need luck.
I thought that I'd got past the hard part, the interview, and it would be easier on the waiting list but I'm finding that the luck has to continue if I'm going to be successful.
I received 2 more "unsuccessful " emails today so I'm not feeling very lucky today.

Go and talk to a manager at a nearby office with vacancies.
Explain the situation.
Tell them you have a previous DOM as a reference.

My first month on the waiting list is up, still not seen any jobs near me posted. 10 miles is the closest, I'm considering applying for it.

I would go for it myself. I regret not applying for distant jobs in my first month now. For the past 1and a half months I've applied for jobs up to 20 miles away.

I probably will go for it, my only problem is i have a 3 week holiday booked at the end of march. I have been trying to hold out so i don't have to ask for 3 weeks off after just starting. My notice is 4 weeks so I've been trying to time it somy holiday will be my notice, or some of it.

It may be worth emailing the HR people if they have any vacancies you can apply for?

That's how I got mine
I asked if I was doing the right thing with ignoring the online test, then they apologised and said we have this position at x postcode, which was less than a mile away

They asked me to reply directly to their email if I accepted and he sent it to the relevant depot manager

Few weeks later finally been officially offered the role, and start 4th March

I remember you mentioning this gimba and thought my luck was in yesterday when I received 2 messages stating that I was unsuccessful due to not doing the online tests. I messaged HR hoping that maybe due to their mistake they might offer me something but instead I got an apology and the correct waiting list unsuccessful email.

I'm into my final 2 weeks on the waiting list and down to my last application and really didn't think it was going to happen.
Thank you all for your support and good luck messages, I really hope that all those hoping to get a job are successful.
