Well done, induction day smart casual, you will not be doing much first week, just training.

The advice I’ve been given so far is cargo pants, NOT jeans as they hold water and will be uncomfortable if you’re out on delivery all day.
Congrats :)

I got my offer today too. Induction on the 20th, start work on the 21st! I'm a bit confused about uniform stuff though - the email I was sent included a link to the uniform order form, but then it also says I can't order uniform until I start the job. So am I supposed to wear my own clothes on my first day? I understand that the induction day is just jeans and trainers, but what about my first day of actual work?
Also, what will my first few days on the job be like, does anyone know? Will it be out delivering on day one, or will there be a bit of time to settle in, figure out how everything works with regards to sorting etc? I'm sure I can handle it either way, I'm just curious and like to be prepared.

You'll probably find it's a mix of everything - shown how to use the PDA, how to throw in (sort) mail, how to tie up, then you might shadow someone on a round.
I'll just echo what someone else said about not wearing jeans until you are able to order your uniform. You'll be surprised how much bending down, leaning over etc you'll be doing when posting through letter boxes, jeans are very uncomfy after a while. Buy a pair of cargo pants from primark, they are only about £10 and useful as spares for when you do get your uniform.
Also take a notepad and pen and make plenty notes. I've shown quite a few new starters round, and though they usually listen they don't make any notes. Next day they've forgotten things, which is fair enough, but just be aware within a week you're probably going to be out on your own. So write anything important down and don't be afraid to ask. I've recently returned to the job so I've been a new starter twice and I reckon 60% of the knowledge I've gained comes from listening to the older experienced posties.

The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Congrats :)
Thankyou! Do you know how long it will be before I get issued with footwear? And what do you think would be best to order, the shoes or boots?
Sorry for all the questions by the way, I'm too excited!

I think you can order the footwear straight away, I’d go for the magnum shoes, they are a bit bulky to begin with but once you get used to them they are good. Get plantar fasciitis insoles of Amazon to go inside them if you have a high arch. I wouldn’t wear jeans, they would be unsuitable, cargo trousers would be best.
