Yes that is exactly what they want you to do. Special Delivery is RM's premium service for a reason. It needs to be treated as such!

If that ever happens just get them to sign for it on a notice left card. Tell work that it was a couple of minutes to one and your pda went down.

Ive failed a special a couple of times but not in close succession . Each time it was delivered late . Now, with the new pda systems I'm pretty sure it gets flagged up for a wrist slap . Its worse when working in pairs , if your on your own I think keeping on top of priority stuff is just a case of dropping off bulk and timed early so that the rest is stress free .

If you ever fail a special, say your gun crashed *wink*wink*, DO NOT SCAN IT on your gun even if it starts working again, keep a note of the code, take code to PHG bay and get it scanned in on the Star gun.

This is what they advise us to do in the event of a PDA issue.

Does the GPS run independent of the RM software?

Potentially, but from what I can tell, I think they can backdate the time on the star gun, so it doesn't show up as failed.

So if it gets done like that, not really much reason for anyone to look into it if it's not showing up as failed.

Plus GPS is not a totally exact science AND your gun crashed, plus you're on your round in the vicinity of the SD location, so I think it would be hard to make a strong case against you using GPS unless management had a real vendetta against you personally.

They don't really want you to fail, it's a pain in the bum for them. They'd have to go out of their way to just give themselves another headache if they wanted to check the PDA data and do you for it.

Yes. But they communicate together, as the GPS is also used by the route planning system.

They'll be 2 separate programs running together and when the Royal Mail scan program needs a GPS location it will request it from the GPS and combine the result with the data packet for that scan.

Its a more complicated version of cut and paste an article in here from another site.

I had an argument with my oc regarding Saturday specials
He said they are all guaranteed to be there before 1pm

My answer was then maybe Ofcom would be interested to know that.
Why are you making people pay for an SG on Saturday when they didn't need to

Was met with silence
lol
