I'm on 20 hours and I pay £6.71 per week but I have bought 7.5 days which is an error on HR's part as it should be 6.

i have been working for Royal Mail for around 6 months now. I asked my manager about buying extra leave after another employee had informed me about it and the manager said he thinks you have to have worked for Royal Mail for 12 months before you are entitled to do so. Is this true or am I being fobbed off?

You're being fobbed off. I started 18 months ago and I applied this time last year.

So for someone with a 25 hour contract how much would it be a week and for how long until you’re done paying? Also anyone know the final amount you end up paying.

Its worked out as a % of your wage see 2nd post on 1st page of this thread made by my, it has the options and cost.

The POAL amount is taken from your wages for the whole leave year, and carries on till you cancel or become entitled to 6 weeks leave after 20 years service.

I'm on 25 hours, 3 years in the job so paying the maximum at the moment = £8.87 a week to make up to the 6 weeks leave

Can you expand on the last part? For example if I want to purchase the extra this year but don't want it next year?

Just to Add a further question to the mix, I applied for extra leave few years ago in February as that was cut off point according to our office. I was told you wud pay out of your wages for the coming year and then be allowed the extra leave the following year . As was other staff. Now people applying for to buy leave are being told they can start using their extra holidays this forthcoming holiday year. Is that correct? Did I pay for a year and miss out ? Any help is appreciated

You must apply by the end of THIS month for the leave year 2019/2020.

If you wish to cancel it you must tell your manager/HR by the same deadline - the end of the February for the leave year starting April.

If you then wish to restart POAL then again apply in the February before the new leave year.

If you don't cancel the POAL carries on till you have completed 20 years AND are also entitled to the full 6 weeks leave.

Can anybody confirm the official stance of when you can actually book leave that has been PAID for as I have been told I cannot book any leave I have paid for until end of March in my case 8 days the reason being that all allocated leave has priority . So I have to wait until the numpties who cannot be arsed to book there allocated leave (that’s if they bother to )decide oh yeah better put my form in Or am I entitled to book my paid leave along with my allocated leave .

No expect on RM issues but it looks like you missed a year.

I started buying the max years ago and was allowed to take it in the same year I started paying for it.

Bump. Can anyone clarify for me, if I want to purchase the max annual leave but I'm already carrying over some days, would I simply be paying the difference between the carried leave and the max, or still purchasing the extra leave based on my basic entitlement? DOM is claiming the second, meaning I'd have more than 6 weeks but I highly doubt it. I'll ring HR tomorrow.
