I dont think Terry got his comment right somehow as nobody is asking for the place to be like butlins or a nursery , yes we are adults and yes we want to do a fair days work for a fair days pay , and people want paying for what they have worked as well , BUT why is it down to a postie to go and tell a manager that he wants to finish on time ? and then be hit with the usually questions why ? traffics down ? parcels are down ? it doesnt look to bad
? , any normal job you clock in and if they want you to work over your time they ask you if you want to work over or clock off and go home .

Problem is, most Nurseries and Butlins are probably better run and more efficient than Royal Mail and rather than the culture team stepping into our offices, maybe they would better off going there and taking notes instead?
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

What a crock of s**t.
Especially the No 3 question. That's so they can claim everything is well and rosy in the garden, it's the sort of leading question lawyers and HR turds use.
It's all a con.
The unit they have decided to visit in my patch is the one both the branch sec and acting Area Rep are from, talk about ass licking, they didn't choose our office with the worst problem or bullying and harassment or ET's in the region or even another local office that walked out before Christmas
Six months down the line we will all still being called lazy twats and having lapsing shoved in your face or having the `morning argument ` whilst the rep has a wank.

How to Change the Culture of the Workplace
by Jennn Fusion
1.
Identify and attack the root problems in the existing corporate culture. Are the problems related to personnel? Technology? Policies? Communication? Brainstorming with top-level executives helps uncover impediments to productivity. However, you should also arrange a meeting with select employees to find out your staff's perception. Another approach may be to set up an anonymous "suggestion box," which invites comments that employees may be hesitant to bring up in person. If you prefer, you may send out an email survey that asks for feedback on improving performance and satisfaction levels in the workplace. Remember, a happy staff is a productive staff.
3.
Start the change with management. There is a trickle-down theory that exists in organizational culture. When management changes their ways, they develop respect and camaraderie with their staff members. Workers like to see managers who are unafraid to roll up their sleeves and do the dirty work. They like managers who listen to their concerns, ask them how their day is going and encourage continual feedback. They like seeing opportunities to advance, train for a new position or receive performance bonuses. Management can offer new ways of showing their gratitude and appreciation for the workhorses of the company.
I filled in the EOS last year & I made a comment in "Any suggestions" that I thought management commitment needed to be reviewed as the "Action plan" was not produced.
I then asked management if we could view to all suggestions to "Discuss" - Only to be told that the new Data Protection Regulations prevented this, as it might identify the colleague who wrote it, So I will not waste my time filling that out again. An action plan was not produced for 2018 either.
As this example shows,IMO, it is difficult to envisage a change in culture when certain managers cannot fulfil the statement “Acting on what you have told us is the most important part of the survey”.

Think there going to admit it in march according to dingo changing from a letters- parcels business to a parcels- letters business??97gaz wrote:I'm usually a fairly positive person but even I can't say yes to the first three questions.
It's clear what the problem is. The decline in letters has been much more compensated for by the increase in parcels but RM doesn't want to admit that because ... Shareholders profits.

Is that a hint that Parcelforce will cease to exist as a separate business I wonder?aiden01 wrote:Think there going to admit it in march according to dingo changing from a letters- parcels business to a parcels- letters business??97gaz wrote:I'm usually a fairly positive person but even I can't say yes to the first three questions.

I wonder if RM will be split, letters, flats and d2d being one company with possibly a 3 day delivery span and the other doing parcels, Tracked and SDs combined with whatever the current PF depots doDeadly wrote:Is that a hint that Parcelforce will cease to exist as a separate business I wonder?aiden01 wrote:Think there going to admit it in march according to dingo changing from a letters- parcels business to a parcels- letters business??97gaz wrote:I'm usually a fairly positive person but even I can't say yes to the first three questions.

Royal mail are all about once over the ground, that's why they are putting collections onto deliveries. If they've got postmen delivering to streets they aren't going to want to pay someone else to deliver parcels and small packets to 10 if the houses that the postmen's been to or walked past. It makes more financial sense to have postie's deliver parcel force parcels especially in the middle of nowhere like we used to, any awkward parcel force call ended up with us when we had dedicated parcel deliveriesSpacePhoenix wrote:I wonder if RM will be split, letters, flats and d2d being one company with possibly a 3 day delivery span and the other doing parcels, Tracked and SDs combined with whatever the current PF depots doDeadly wrote:Is that a hint that Parcelforce will cease to exist as a separate business I wonder?aiden01 wrote:Think there going to admit it in march according to dingo changing from a letters- parcels business to a parcels- letters business??97gaz wrote:I'm usually a fairly positive person but even I can't say yes to the first three questions.

I think RM has to start realising that there are not that many more cost cutting options available 'on the coal face'. There are a few more such as moving postbox collections completely onto walks and maybe amalgamating more DO to reduce leasing costs. Mr Black has had to admit publicly that the cuts envisaged by Moya are not possible. If they want more cost cutting then they need to knock on the regulators door and demand a level playing field and ideally the elimination of the DSA regime.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.
