Interview Location

Hi all,

I’ve been invited to interview for a postman role approx. 3 miles from where I live. The interview however is being held 13 miles from where I live.

Could this just be because it is a better place to hold the interview or would I be expected to drive there every morning to collect my deliveries but then complete my round in the location I applied for? The difference is a 10 minute rural drive against a 30-40 minute drive with heavy traffic.

Has anybody else had an interview in the location they didn’t apply for but then go on to be based where they did apply for?

The location you applied for is where you will start and finish your shift. The interview location will be to accommodate multiple hirings for different offices I presume.

I had my interview at a different depot to where I applied for. Think it was purely down to office space. Good luck!

It lasted longer then expected which I am hoping is a good sign....

I got an email last Friday saying i passed my recent assessment! I'm now doing the security checks :) - Any idea how long these will take and does this mean i have the job?

You’ve got the job subject to security checks, so as long as these come back okay it’s yours.

Mine took a while. I got the email saying if passed interview on 24/12/18, got an update on 23/01/19 to say I’d passed security checks. My induction is 18/02/19. So pretty much 2 months from interview to start date

Pleased to say i got offered the job and have had my contract come through the post this morning.

I have logged in to order my uniform :)

I'm Debating which pair of shoes/boots to choose! any recommendations ?

If on delivery stay away from the safety boots as they are too heavy when you are walking constantly. Trainers or shows are best generally, for bad weather I have my own lightweight Gortex boots.

If in an MC working near moving trucks then the safety boot will offer more protection.

I will be on out on delivery so will take your advice on avoiding the boots.

I like to run so i do have a few pairs of running trainers/shoes would i be ok to wear these?

You will need to phone for your first uniform rather than order on line. It should say in your formal offer to wait until the day you start and phone dimensions (this is because the availability is more when you phone them, the stuff on line is not for delivery staff)
