Bit confused about your post, are you saying you are working overtime and not getting paid for it or that you are completing your work with a reduction in your hours worked?Celgar wrote:The SWW hasn't had the effect Terry intended in our DO. The mail still gets to us at the same time to be sorted and most of the posties still arrive at the same time they used to before the SWW was introduced. We still clear the office of all mail as we did before so the same time is worked. The only difference is the work is completed unpaid.
I take it people aren't coming in early rushing around, and are taking their breaks? If not and there's still spare time in the office then RM are going to be looking to grab it and there's not a lot the CWU can do about it

In reality, this means, we'll all be getting an extra 4 hrs docket a week, if you were going over every day on 39 that is. If you were getting an hr flyer every day, you'll be working closer to your paid hrs, and rightly so.worktotime wrote:Terry said 2022 we will be doing a 35 hr ,NewPostieUK wrote:Not even close.Whysoslowyehcfc wrote:One question - is it working in your office
Same here, leave more for the part timer, yet still expect him to lapse and complete.Whysoslowyehcfc wrote: they are struggling to lay the part timers work in
Ha, who is he trying to fool? It'll never happen.Whysoslowyehcfc wrote: Area rep has said to me "he can't see how it's going to work when they take the next hour off", happy days .

There is a clear pathway to my back door.aiden01 wrote: Terry says lots of things do you believe him honestly.
I didn't say I would get to my back door, just that the pathway is clear.
Getting past the fridge without grabbing a beer and sitting in front of the box is proving difficult.
We are in total agreement about getting to the back door, make savings and being more efficient and I can see I can get to the back door 12 minutes earlier.
Still I can't get past the fridge, maybe I need a £200 bribe.
*Votes for £200 bribe, spends it on beer, pulls a tin out out of the fridge and sits in front of the TV*
Terry: we are clear on the pathway to be taken to reduce travel time to back door to ten seconds by 2020.
*burps, farts, looks at mountain of packets blocking back door, changes channel*

Unforunately not. It has been stated many times, the SSW is self funding. It can't cost Royal Mail a penny, it has to be funded by savings, effiency etc.

How would these walk level sorted parcels be transported to the do? Parcels and packets of all sizes for each walk would take up maybe 2 mini shrouds, 100 walks in an office so on top of mech mail and loose mail there would be possibly 200 walksorted mini shrouds of packets to take to my office. How would that work then? Or even 1 per walk so 100. The machines will sort to postcode sections as they do now unless they group maybe 5 walks and sort those into shrouds, they would still need manually sorting though. It just wouldn't take quite as longSpacePhoenix wrote:There are systems that can sort parcels down to walk level, with some tweaking i imagine that they could also do it down to loop level

That's one system they could look into, there's bound to be other systems by other manufacturers by now

I see how this could save time in MCs and maybe enable having less staff in the MCs. I don't see any more than nominal time savings in DOs from deploying this kind of system in MCs other than maybe enabling untrained or inexperienced people to deliver walks from DOs. There would be a significant financial outlay as well to fit these machines into the MCs in the first place.SpacePhoenix wrote:There are systems that can sort parcels down to walk level, with some tweaking i imagine that they could also do it down to loop level
I really feel RM needs to take a different tack and move away from their blinkered cost cutting & downsizing regime as opposed to actively improving the business and our capacity to deliver.
