Problem with licence

Post by VeryHopefulPostie »

I am applying for a job with Royal Mail and the advertisement says the interviews will be held in less than 2 weeks time- I've recently moved house and my driving licence still shows my old address, I have applied online today to update the address and can send my licence off tomorrow but theres no guarantee it will be back in time, and its unlikely- should I take a photocopy before I send it? Is it likely that I'll lose the opportunity because of this?

It only took a week to get my licence back. Get it off tomorrow Special Delivery, and yes, take a copy first.

When I moved I applied for mine online, I got it in 5 days and I`ve send my old one cut in two AFTER I received the new one. They even sent me a prepaid envelope for that.

I have contacted them today but theyve said it can take uo to three weeks and weren't much more specific than that.

If it isn't back in time do you think this will go against me?

No, you have taken steps to change it so as long as you do the belt and braces approach you'll be fine:

Belt and braces - photocopy of the licence, the application etc and proof of address for the new and old addresses.

I doubt you'll need any of that but better to take and not need, than not take and do need. As part of the belt and braces approach, I would also email them and explain the issue and the steps you are taking to resolve it, always be proactive.

They don't wait to receive your license before they send the new one out, so if you have already applied for the new one it will be on it's way regardless on whether or not you've sent yours off. I waited until I received my new one before I chopped my old up and sent it off (I sent it the same day I received my new one). It didn't take very long for me to get my new license as it arrived within a week. Also I went into my interview with my license that had the wrong address and they gave me the interview; I just had to give them the correct license after I had been given a conditional offer (pre security checks).
