It would not surprise me if RM stops posties getting their pensions at 60 and increase it 65 because within the next 25 to 30 years RM will have loads of pensions to pay out. Therefore, this is the time to vote no to secure our pensions.

If you look at the so called agreement it covers all be it (postmen/women+ex phg= opg's )+mdec+LA'S+mgv driver's+engineers+osg's+mail screeners.which group are you writeing about.?

A number of points have been raised. I believe in real terms the pensions issue is seperate. We never believe management so why are we on this.

I suppose the big question is how is it management are making Pay dependent on pensions???? I just can't see it, the pay ballot will be over long before - if its a yes vote for pay are they going to withold an increase in our pay until we roll over on pensions. If they do there will be a riot.

I just dont see any practical way the two are linked - I suspect the truth is the union demand to seperate pensions has been successful and it has been positioned the way it has as a face saver for RM. In other words it looks like neither side has backed down but in reallity they have. If anyone can see how the link has not been severed perhaps they can explain cos it just dont add up for me.

Someone said we should not have seperated it, personally I dont think we had a choice as we have members in parcels, quadrant and cleaners that are in the union but not involved in the dispute. They need a say.

As has been said mangers are in unite and i believe there are others in senior mangement roles in some other organisation (I wont call it a union, that would be sacralidge) who are entitled by law to have a say. Also there will be non union strike breakers entitled to be consulted in the 60 days. However it will only be CWU members who will get a seperate vote through a CWU ballot. We are the vast majority so the rest can go whistle.

It is true any vote will not be a veto but we will have to decide what to do with any no vote on pensions. I expect the size of any such vote and reaction from branches may be a deciding factor.

So as I see it it aint over until the fat lady sings!

You are right - they also get their salary for three months when voted out - now if you and me get sacked we get our weeks pay and sweet FA.

And if you are a failed priminister you get a priminister's salary for life yes life!.

Do you know I always thought I should have tried harder at school - mind it isn't all about academia is it - you also have to be a lying, cheating two faced bastard - the wife says I could never be two faced - if I had another she says it would be better than the one I have.

Everyone has a place in society and everyone is equally important: you run society from your position: the person in charge of any organisation is the one who has the best character, whether people recognise that or not. The places that everyone currently occupies were not going to pass them by and the places that have passed them by were not going to be occupied. What has happened was supposed to happen and cannot be changed.

Regarding leaving school early: to be able to use a computer and work out how to use the internet and a web-based forum - such as this one - are high-level skills. Additionally, anyone can access distance-learning courses, which can be done from the comfort of one's own home, in one's own time, for the fraction of the cost of learning by going to a college or university directly. Surprise yourself: contact your local college or university and see what is on offer.

Also, just google "distance learning": you can do a course anywhere in the world, and choose what subject you'd like to undertake: either for brushing up your maths and English, or for a vocational qualification or a degree. To see what type of course might suit you, you could try:

If you need any more help, just let me know: I know of people who started off just wanting to brush up their maths and English and ended up doing a PhD. You can do it: go for it. Thanks brother - I suppose I could do another degree but then what would I do with it at 61 but boast even more about my educational prowess - no it is easier to pretend to be less than adequate - that way, not much is expected and believe you me that is exactly what they get.
