I start next week and I’m trying to get prepared, I’ve been walking about 6 miles a day and have noticed how cold my hands get without gloves, does anyone wear gloves ? I’ve never noticed if posties wear them, if so which type?

A pair of fingerless neoprene gloves like Crane, they pop up on offer in Lidl/Aldi now and then.

I would suggest another 3 miles it steady walking, or keep it at 6 if you are walking fast. Average daily walking distance for a postie is 9 - 12 miles depending on terrain and duty.Wicket2017 wrote:I start next week and I’m trying to get prepared, I’ve been walking about 6 miles a day and have noticed how cold my hands get without gloves, does anyone wear gloves ? As for gloves never used them even when it was -15c, the constant activity keeps you warm for most of the day, hence why a lot of posties wear shorts in snow.

I couldn't do the job without fingerless gloves as my hands seize up in cold weather! I bought a 5 quid pair of thermal insulate fingerless gloves on eBay. They work a treat! No worries
