Hi all, new here and I have a question.
I recently applied for a fixed term contract at the site I already work at (through Angard) and was of course told to complete an online assessment. However, I asked for extra time to complete it due to a disability I have (that btw helps me in my work but hinders my ability to take online tests due to things like speed of clicking).
The email I got in reply was generic, but said that if I’d asked for extra time, to wait until I received a second email and then click the link in there. ...As you can probably guess from the buildup to this, I didn’t receive a second email.
Last Wednesday I contacted Royal Mail Careers through Facebook. On Thursday they told me they’d passed my enquiry on to recruitment and would be back in touch shortly. I haven’t heard anything since, though I can see that they’ve looked at my Friday message asking if they have an update for me. The job application closes this Friday, and I still haven’t taken the online test.
So, does anyone know the protocol for reasonable adjustments on the online test? A friend of mine suggested that they might wait until the application closes and then ask about my disability and then add extra time, but I don’t know anyone else who has asked for this and so I don’t know whether I’ve just been overlooked somehow. This would be pretty devastating to me because at the end of November I missed out on an Angard opportunity because of inquiring about my disability too.
I’m hoping to hear from them today but if I don’t then I don’t know what to do. I wish I hadn’t even bothered with the accommodations at this point. I know so many people who have taken the test with multiple friends helping them and I don’t have (or want) anyone’s help but I know I can do it if I just have time. Heck, at this point if they up and told me I couldn’t have reasonable adjustments I’d still take the test. I just want to take it. But of course the original link expired over a week ago.

Extra time on online assessments?
Hi I also applied for a time extension (due to adhd) I got the extension & still failed
So I asked if I could have longer & moaned about how my ability to do a job that doesn't involve computers should be assessed by a computer test
I also described in more detail my particular problem with computers
Anyway they didn't give me extra time but they did give me an interview (I got the job)
In the meantime I'd applied at another depot & asked for a mega time extension
It took them about 2weeks to reply to that
Anyway hope that is some help?

Thanks. I just got an email saying I didn’t get to the interview stage because I didn’t finish the test in time.Jen1 wrote:Hi I also applied for a time extension (due to adhd) I got the extension & still failed

I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve been trying to talk to someone about my application for two weeks now and I’ve run into walls everywhere. It’s completely impossible to contact Royal Mail recruitment. I even emailed the application email and got no reply.
