my god, why are you all so negative?, its not that bad, in previous employment ive been given a written warning for getting to the clocking off machine at the correct time instead of 2 minutes past!, if i wanted to be paid for 2 hrs overtime i had to work for 2 hrs, if i wanted my full 40hrs weekly pay i had to work 40hrs.
If i was off sick i didnt get paid and it was assumed you were pulling a sickie and you were told what weeks you would be off on holiday, not have a choice at all.

Here you come and go as you please not to the minute, if you only work 22hrs you still get paid your contracted hours, overtime is paid if you take half a round out regardless of how long it takes, you get paid if your sick and you get to choose holidays within reason, for gods sake cheer up some of you or go and work in the real world!

Your day off always fall on a bank holiday. Good luck trying to book another day off or getting paid for it.

Nicely said. It does get a tad negative on here sometimes. For what we do, £11.50/hr aint bad compared to what else is out there, and part time £/hr is more.

i was chatting to an amazon driver the other day, 6am-10pm, equivalent of £3ph and if he phones in sick HE has to pay for cover and van hire for someone else to do the round!

Just because it could be worse doesn't mean workers cannot grumble.

I've worked in a job earning less with varied shifts but I've also worked a full time job with a 3 day weekend with overtime rates of time and half and double. (Company closure, otherwise I'd still be there!)

There are better jobs aswell as worse jobs.

What has been said is completely true. The job ad that i apllied for is completely different to what i experience within this company.

I personally applied for the job as it was advertised to be finished before school finishes. So i could do school runs. Pressured into completing every day regardless of workload.
If you look at the recent job ads, you'll see it states they now expect you to finish your duty even though it also states that you could be doing 4 to 6 hours delivery.

In general, i like the job and the wage isn't too bad either.

You get what you pay for. The saying is exactly the same for employees aswell.

As someone who is leaving RM this week after 11 months and two weeks I would like to say that as a part timmer on 25hours five days a week this is one of the worst jobs I have had.
No real training.
Not allowed to book a day off as a holiday, I was told a holiday is longer than a day so you cant have a day off as a holiday. figure that out!
Not allowed to book a day off for a doctors apointment they then changed my day off when I said I wouldnt be in whether they liked it or not.
Booking overtime, what is it with RM you fill out a sheet when you start, when you go out, when you return and when you leave. But whatever this form says is ignored because you didnt put your ot hours on the invisable ot sheet. So you don't get paid.
Start time is 9.25 you walk in the office nobody else is there they all left to do their rounds at 9.00, so by the time you return again nobody there they have all gone home. Quite a lonely place to work.
If you get on a van share, again you start at 9.30 your van partner is pretty pissed off by then as he/she wanted to leave at nine.
If your not going down the pub with the boys you are never going to be part of this place, someone once on this forum stated as a part timmer he felt like he was the bastard son,
The runner is heard saying that he can do your round in 2.5 hours
I did think it might get better the longer I did the job but I dont think it ever will.
Why did I stay so long well the money to be honest its nearly impossible to find an unskilled job with the same amount of pay. AS IN QUALIFICATIONS

Well, I must be working for a different company. Most on here as PTimers would argue they certainly do not get 2 hours overtime for 2 hours work. It miraculously vanishes. Oh we get to choose what holidays? - as long as they are not when the 35 -40 full timers don't want them. I certainly can't get only 22hrs a week - I have to argue to be allowed to cut off to pick up my kids!

Here's another one... Don't bother trying to organise any Christmas get togethers with family, as we won't tell you when you are off till 24th of December -and your days off will probably be Bank holidays anyway and we will give them in lieu - but your not allowed to take odd day's, remember.

Amazon drivers are self employed. Their choice. But they could all walk out- then amazon go tats up. Work comes back to RM, they get employed by RM.

That's not a good comparison, firstly nobody should accept the terms of the bogus self employed positions if they pay less than NMW, and they should never be used as a baseline for working conditions or standards, they are extremely exploitative. That said I seriously doubt it would work out at £3 per hour, you'd be better off on the dole.

It's also illegal to drive for 14 hours a day at work. 9 hours is the standard limit.

Would you believe it!

I've just seen a vacancy for a PT

Looks a bit more like Amazon now

It states

25 hrs 5 days,

Sort your mail, load the van, drive to delivery, walk 4-6 hours, back to office.

(A very easy bit of basic arithmetic shows the job is not PT by any stretch - is this not what FTimers do?)

25 hours, between 06:00 and 19:00 , 5 days per week (Monday – Saturday )

The hours are flexible between 06.00 and 19.00 you will need to be available between this times. (Erm, so what do you do with the rest of the 7 hours a day?)

Excellent organisation: You will need to be able to plan your round (Managers Role?) and make sure you complete all your deliveries in good time.

Resilience: You will be able to work under pressure and with the public, acting as a friendly face that people know and trust. Yeah when you cover 30 different rounds!

Flexibility: You will be working in different areas covering your colleagues’ holidays, so you might need to adjust your working hours to match your round.

Who are these eejits kidding?

Also we will ignore your overtime then tell you it’s too much to add in one go thus having to space it out over weeks while you accrue more overtime. Fun!
