so much for priority over xmas casuals as a angaard worker
It's the last week of November. We've just had Black Friday. We are now in the run up to Xmas. Suddenly Royal Mail can get by without Angard assistance. No shifts available at all this week. Seriously ???

Almost the same here.
In the 8 weekdays of last and this week, they’ve cancelled 5 of my shifts, 18:15 (or 16:15) to 22:15.
Now they have emailed the thousands of RM Casuals to invite them to transfer across to Angard.
I believe they are trying to force out the higher-paid existing staff.

Cancellations rife at my MC too. Pre-booked shifts cancelled for many but the place is overrun with Xmas casuals cheap as chips but untrained. the mail don’t give a s**t about the ones that are there all year. when it fails they come running back for a change I don’t blame Angard the mail call the shots and the say how many get cancelled Angards with 4\5 years experience not getting shifts over someone who has never threw a parcel or filled a York shocking treatment of there casual staff at this time of year.

Don’t ever fall for the premise that Angard and RM are different companies. Their Registered Offices are identical and two of the three Directors of Angard sit on the main Board of RM. The third Director is from Reed Employment.
Angard is a ‘front’ company for RM, set up to appease the unions. RM doesn’t employ staff on a casual zero-hour contract but Angard do.
The union would go mad if RM staff were treated so badly but as it’s Angard, they don’t seem to care.
This has all been laid bare at various Employment Tribunals but Angard and RM event get away with ignoring the Courts’ rulings - despite being fined for doing so.

I thought about applying for Xmas Casual (done it in the past) but fell for this on the application form
PLEASE NOTE:
• If you are currently registered with Angard for work with Royal Mail you do not need to apply as you will be considered for Christmas Casual work through the agency. Please contact your Angard representative via the website http://www.angardstaffing.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
All very well except the Angard "representative" doesn't seem to want to talk about it.

Yep. We’ve all been shafted.
Mind you, they’re paying ‘only’ £10.50/hour at my MC so that would mean a pay cut for many of the existing staff.
All those on less than £10.50 have received a temporary pay increase.

Lack of shifts continues despite two weeks to Xmas. Had less shifts in December than I had in same period October. RM treatment of Angard employees is absolutely shameful.
