Seasonal Worker, Offer to transfer to Angard

I'm due to start as an xmas mail sorter on Saturday to work directly for Royal Mail, however, I've just received an email asking if I would like to transfer to Angard with a link to a questionnaire that I have to complete. I have been on Angard's waiting list for most of this year, do you think this is why they are asking me?

The questionnaire provided asks where I would like to work, mail centre, delivery office or both. I have worked at a mail centre before, but I'm not sure what working in a delivery office is like. Could anyone that works at a delivery office provide any details? There is one just around the corner from where I live so it would be handy, but I'm not sure what it would involve. Every time I've been there to pick up a parcel it's been pretty quiet.

All the Casuals have received this email! Even at places where there are no Angardees!!! My advice is stay away!

I'm glad I asked on here now! So why do you think they've sent it to everyone? It looks like it's been sent from a genuine Royal Mail email so it's not any kind of scam or anything.

Angard are very good at recruiting more staff, even if they don't need them!!! So it gives them more staff to "muck" around. Being polite there!

no the email is not a scam but angard are s**t off the ground stay away from them

I thought it was just a survey then it mentions transferring a bit confusing really and i think you can just fill out certain parts of it if you wanted to

no the email is not a scam but angard are s**t off the ground stay away from them

I've heard things like this before about them. It's definitely off putting, won't be going for the transfer now, the replies I've got from this post tells me I could end up not even working for them at all over Christmas if I switched to Angard.

My advice would be to stick with R.M. casual It's far too close to Christmas to transfer anywhere , and knowing Angards rep you would likely not get any shifts til after Christmas.
If after Christmas when you have done your casual stint , you get an other E-mail then you could give it a go, otherwise stay as you are.

I would ignore the email but set in motion the process of working for a Angard by applying ‘externally’ on their main website.

That way, you continue to work for RM but might start sooner with Angard.

I didn’t apply until after my contract with RM had finished and it took Angard 5 weeks to complete their recruitment process and to start work.

Agree totally with previous post.
If I was cynical (me?), and thought for one minute that Royal Mail may not have your best interests at heart, I would say they have hired too many Xmas Casuals.
Transfer to Angard now and you will find yourself with no work until January.

Royal Mail will drop their directly employed casuals or cut their hours if there isn't enough work just the same as they do for Angard casuals. They do it each year year at my MC and on occasions even put out a message on the tannoy sending RM casuals home a couple of hours early from a shift.

Which begs the question as to why RM are offering transfers to Angard when Angard don't have enough work for the employees they already have.

Angard have an almost perpetual recruitment programme.

They don’t care how many people are in their pool of staffcas it gives them a larger number from whom to choose.

The don’t pay a salary/retainer so it costs them barely anything to operate the pool.

I do wonder whether they actually carry out the security checks - to save money.

It’s all about having judge numbers on call; not about providing any work.

I'm already on Angard's waiting list which I've been on for most of this year. When I got the email, I thought it was just for me personally and was wondering if it was a job offer from Angard because I'm already on their list, but now I know that's not the case.

I had more or less gave up waiting to hear from Angard as I had been waiting for so long, but if I do hear from them after Christmas I'll probably just go for it anyway.
