Getting duplicate keys for van share ?
What we do is put a new entry in the log book each time a new driver takes the wheel. For us it isn’t too bad as we only switch who the driver is three times per day on our van share.

OR.... You speed through a camera and other Guy signed for van? OR the Police pull You over and find defects but other Guy signed for van?crimson king wrote:Hmm, interesting. I see your point, but in reality I don't think it'd go down too well if I finished my loop before my partner and just sat in the van waiting for them to come back.scoobydo79 wrote:No it isn’t OK.What if You have an accident and the other guy signed for the van?
Is this a definite official thing then, that only the driver can drive the van?

Getting duplicate keys for van share ?
This is the way the planners 'planned' park and loop (or 'van share').
Two duties paired up, usually geographically close to each other. They are paired up, but remain two separate duties, ie duty 1 and duty 2.
One duty is designated the driving duty, the other is the passenger.
Loops are created. Areas with houses or farms or businesses etc that aren't close together are given to the driver. Compact areas such as terraced houses, the loop goes to the passenger. The drivers loops with be smaller in order for him to drive around delivering large packets.
The driver may or may not have loops suitable for trolley use. The passenger will usually have loops suitable for trolley use (LWT).
The driver drops of the passenger at the start of each loop and goes off to do his loop, which may be nearby or could be a huge loop doing farms. He needs to do his and his passengers large packets, and take care of specials. Passenger could take specials for that loop if there are no time or size constraints.
The driver signs out the van, fills in the book and does the van checks. He signs the van back in at the end of the shift.
Most van share duties were poorly planned and the two duty holders made changes to improve the duty, but keeping to the general idea. Over time some duty holders thought they knew better, and raped the pair of duties, discarding trolleys and creating different loops.
Now we are in a fecking mess.

All van share posties should always have their own van key and own PDA. There is no other way of doing the job. If this isn't the case it has to be fixed ASAP!!Seagull1983 wrote:Should/could the office provide a 2nd set of keys for a van share round ? Would help with 1st person getting back to van getting a new bag and setting off on foot also in the rain would provide 1st person back with a place to avoid rain. Do people have this on your van shares ?

Semi rurals should be singleton duties.
