Its not that difficult to do. You just google 'Royal Mail Door 2 Door Opt Out. Its more the case that 99% of the public don't know its possible to opt out of D2Ds. If you start telling too many people you could be in trouble with RM. If someone asks me about them I point them in the right direction but its dicey to go much further than that.clashcityrocker wrote:No.postmanzach wrote: if you hit people with 7, more people will opt out right?
If they haven't bothered by now, then they won't bother at all.
And the process is cumbersome to put you off.

It's as easy to put 7 D2D in the blue bin as it is to put one in. The default position of most people is that although they like a moan about "junk mail" nobody wants to miss a bargain/offer/voucher/menu or just something to read on the toilet. You can see this when you hand them a pile of D2D, they'll complain but even on the way to the bin they'll have a quick look.

As much as I hate D2D, i have personally used a deal and made a purchase from the D2D. 2 out of 1000s of leaflets no doubt but that is still a win for these advertisers.Woody Guthrie wrote:It's as easy to put 7 D2D in the blue bin as it is to put one in. We shall see, Im pretty sure your wrong, I have ‘no junk mail stickers’ on nearly every door so I have to explain it’s not junk and we treat it is first class mail so unless they opt out I will deliver it, can I get fired for that eh?clashcityrocker wrote:No.postmanzach wrote: if you hit people with 7, more people will opt out right?

A lot of my round live in flats with their boxes downstairs that are fairly tight to get regular mail in, 7 d2ds will barely fit in. It’s a stupid move for quick profit that will back fire on Royal Mail. There must have been a way to negotiate spreading them out a bit.
Its not hard to opt out, just google door to door opt out and you just print out a form fill it out and send it off. if will only take one or two people to share it on Facebook and it will spread and with their neighbours and it will spread quickly.

So they have gone to the trouble of putting a sticker on their door which doesn't stop them getting RM D2D leaflets (others?) yet they haven't just printed a form and sent it back? Why would they bother now?postmanzach wrote: We shall see, Im pretty sure your wrong, I have ‘no junk mail stickers’ on nearly every door
Do you explain to them how many jobs will be lost?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Job losses? Well perhaps in other areas of the country where amazon deliver but in my office you have to go fast to get done on time without any d2ds. The little Chinese Packets and amazon keep us plenty busy without d2ds.clashcityrocker wrote:So they have gone to the trouble of putting a sticker on their door which doesn't stop them getting RM D2D leaflets (others?) yet they haven't just printed a form and sent it back? But I guess you are right as so many of the cities do have fierce competition and I have only seen things from where I work.
A lot of the time they are being thrown off by either by the cage person or a fella that’s been off sick and is on light duties so that’s cooking the books there right? Can turn a blind eye to it as everyone’s happier having them thrown off but if they are done in duty time it’s more overtime to be paid out.
They haven’t been aware of needing a form until I explain why I’m still posting them despite their sticker. I have only told one person about the form, mostly just simply say we have to treat them as business mail and we don’t regard it as junk. Definitely annoys a few people but you are right most customers understand it helps keep us in the job.
Also that leaflet recently with such blatant lies about the statistics, 68% people buy something after getting a d2d. It’s this type of bs that pisses posties off, just complete lies why do they do that. We get d2ds are good for the business but come with some honest believable stats instead of laughable facts. It worsens the respect and overall relationship between employees and Royal Mail.

I have been asked that twice before. It is quite a logical viewpoint if you think about it.lightningpostman wrote:and what is your reply to

You should see the rush for the £5 off vouchers in the Lidl booklets in our office if you think nobody cares about D2D's.

Losing D2D would mean a massive loss of revenue less work and no doubt the D/S would be at risk. I would say 68% is a fair guess ive used cab numbers new take aways i will go to a shop for special offers in their booklet and free eye tests, of course most go in the bin but i look to see whats on offer first.postmanzach wrote:Job losses?
