Royal Mail - Christmas Casual 2018 - When Do You Start?
Hi everyone,
A update. My friend and 33x other Royal Mail Christmas Casuals started at Preston Mail Centre yesterday (5th November) on the late shift 15:00-22:00. They was all including my friend thought they was in all week Monday-Friday, but that is not the case. They was all in yesterday for the induction and shift, but they have split the 34x into 2 groups. 17x are going to be in (today and tomorrow) and the other 17x will be on (Thursday and Friday) when the other 17x are off.
I have never known Royal Mail to do that before?
Thank you all for looking at my post.

Royal Mail - Christmas Casual 2018 - When Do You Start?
Gatwick MC: Angard losing it again!
Last year, the Christmas shifts were organised by email application and Angard later confirmed shifts to employees.
This year it’s being done by text and return phone call.
On Wednesday, Angard sent out a text, at 17:33, inviting us all to apply for Christmas shifts.
Many of us were working, called in early for the 18:15 shift. In any event, many did not receive the text until after 18,00, by which time the relevant Angard staff had gone home.
Next morning, there was no consultant avail who was prepared to book the shifts yet by the time they were available, the first week, 27 Nov, had been filled!
I managed to book a couple of weeks but for the last full week if Christmas, I have to have one evening off, elsewhere.
Angard refused to book me for the 4 days - despite having done so last year.
Not exactly family-friendly. ‘Right to a family life’?
I hope that there will be Cadual slots available. Seems unfair that, after 3 Christmases and nearly 2 years with Angard, that they seem so cavalier with experienced staff.

Royal Mail - Christmas Casual 2018 - When Do You Start?
Christmas casuals have aready started at our site on monday 5th November.
We were sent an email by Angard Staffing in September to say that Angard employees do not need to apply for Christmas casual jobs as they would be given priority over shift allocation.
Well that is not the case, At our site the Christmas Casuals have started and those I have spoken to have been given shift allocations up to christmas.
Also now this week the shifts from angard seem to have dried up yet there are approx ten Christmas Casuals started working doing our jobs.
Myself and my colleagues think this is a disgusting way to treat employees that come in all year to help you out and then get ditched for the cheaper option Christmas casuals, this is the thanks you get for helping out throughout the year.
You cannot get an honest answer from anyone regarding this issue as Angard seem to have an annonymous director and no senior managers who deal with complaints.
Angard still have not responded to several issues raised over and over again regarding breaks and holiday pay. At our site if you work a late shift 1730-2130 you get a 20 min payed break, if you work a night shift 0200-0630 shift you are not allowed a break, yet Royal Mail staff get a 40 min payed break and 20 min unpaid in an 8 hour shift. Where is the equality in that you may ask especially when the notice boards are plastered with equality and fairness notices!!
Anyway good luck with getting any shifts fellow Angard employees.
