I haven't heard any mention of figures yet but I would imagine the same as last year so two lots of one hundred pounds - two hundred pounds altogether.

At one time as with a lot of things within RM every DO would get a different Xmas bonus based on what their local union rep could negotiate. For a while now though everyone gets the same or rather full timers get one figure and I think the part timers get a different figure. It is getting busier year on year at Christmastime in terms of parcels at least so I don't think the bonus should decrease. It probably won't increase either though.

Wasn’t there rumblings earlier on in the year of this pro-rata nonsense being scrapped for the Xmas bonus & it being a straight £200 across the board?

From 2013 onwards, in Royal Mail the underpinning £100 payment will be paid as an ongoing increase to the current Christmas bonus.

No mention of a 5 year limit, quite the opposite in fact.

The Christmas pay supplement of £100 for full time OPG and OSGs (pro-rated for part timers) will be paid on Friday, 22nd December. The eligibility criteria for the Christmas supplement payment will be the same as last year, based on the four December weeks (commencing Monday, 27th November). In the unlikely event of any Industrial Action the abatement criteria will be drawn from the PBS agreement.

Just a quick note for everyone, sickness only affects the Christmas bonus if your pay is reduced or stopped, you don't lose any of the bonus if you are sick and still fully paid. If you are on reduced pay then:

or each full week an individual receives no pay during the pressure period ( eg unpaid special leave etc ) the individual will lose one quarter of the supplement.

For each full week where basic pay is reduced for sick pay pension rate the individual will lose one quarter of the supplement.

For each full week where basic pay is reduced for sick half pay the individual will lose one - eighth of the supplement

Official Industrial action affects the bonus from Midnight to Midnight each day by 3% and Wild Cat action is 10% per day.

This seems an appropriate point to remind our PT colleagues, and any Unit Reps, that their DOM should be making an official commitment to temporary make up PTers to FT over the Christmas Pressure Period. And preferably in writing!

Several times it's happened that PTers "Thought" they'd been made up, and they hadn't. Mainly being stiffed over PRO-RATA (I hate that term) payments.

We're all going to working our Tits off over the Christmas Period so lets at least all get a fair share of the cash.

I remember all the bull that our DOM used to spout to try and get people to work OT at Christmas. Saying you only get the bonus if you work 6 days etc.

He normally doesn't have to spread to much Bullshit in our office. We seem to have loads of Posties who suddenly want to work all the hours Santa sends!

Mind you they have been taking it easy for the rest of the year so , I suppose it's only fair they put in at least 4 weeks of decent work a year! We've got people signing up to do early IPS from 0400.... I've told the DOM we'll be wanting a commitment from him that these "Early Birds" will only be doing Early IPS, and NOT getting their own duty thrown off before they start on the IPS.

Well we can all live in hope

, but knowing the Tossers that have put their names down, I doubt it. We'll come in at 0630 and they'll be nearly ready to bundle up..... happens every year.

And all this name calling is why staff don’t get on. Whats wrong with wanting to work more hours and do overtime near xmas?

Nothing wrong with wanting to do OT at Christmas. But IF you've signed up to do 2 1/2 hours Early IPS you should be doing IPS. Fair enough if you've sorted everything that's come in then move on to your frame and throw your Duty Off. However the guys that sign up for this Early IPS invariably START by throwing off their own Duties, and then move onto IPS.

When everyone else comes in at the Normal Start time there's normally still loads of IPS that needs doing, but the "Early Birds" are basically nearly ready to go. The irony is that they then start chasing everyone else to get a move on sorting what's left of the IPS mail.

If you want to work your days off that's not a problem. I just don't have the energy to work my rest day. I think it says a lot about how hard their workload is during the rest of the week.

None of these guys have signed up for Afternoon Parcel Deliveries. I wonder why if they're so keen to earn some extra cash?
