In previous jobs, I've always been asked nicely if i want to stay and work over my time. 'Asked' not expected. Then thanked when I have done so. Why is RM the complete opposite.

Regarding the original post it strikes me (see what I did there? Ahem, I'll get me coat ..) that the union at local level quite often has more balls than at national level.
