Given the tendency for RM to resist promoting part timers up to full time even when they are being topped up with the difference in hours on an overtime basis I cannot foresee RM employing additional staff other than at Xmas. For more SWW to be implemented there has to some physical time savings made otherwise how can it possible to reduce daily duty hours by another 36 minutes per day on top of the 24 we have already given up. Rico Blacks share price smashing announcement said previous cost-cutting predictions were wildly out. Then we heard that the delivery method trials failed and have been dropped which isn't in any way a surprise. The union is doing what it can to prevent any more changes in the MCs. Then if letter and flats amounts truly are dropping off how can it make sense to invest further in machinery to sort that mail more efficiently. Everything adds up to there being very little if any further time savings possible.wazer wrote:So when everybodys on 35 hrs will the pro rata rate go.D2d ,xmas bonus,shares etc.So all 35hrs b classed as full time.Thats a lot more wages for RM to payout.

Part time duties
On the subject of the 12 mins being taken off our working day, it's being done in a totally unfair but hardly surprising way in our depot. 'Just start 12 minutes later each day'. Many duties didn't have the 12 minutes 'spare' to start with and are failing mail more and more often. Duties that have always had plenty scope don't seem to be complaining though, as they are quite happy to ghost the OT.

Part time duties
Update;rogersh wrote:This reply was sent to me from HR in September.Tomolo208 wrote:How do you work that out? Part timers will be considered full timers if they are both on 35hr contracts. Part Timers don't get paid more than full timers, terrible maths there sorry mate.rambo1 wrote:News flash. The union ARE in favour of making full time part time. 35 hr contracts are now considered as part time........just where the unon want full time to be in 3 yrs. By which time, a part timer on 35 hrs will be getting paid more than a full timer on 35 hrs. Anyone thought how that one's gonna work out, or haven't they got that far yet.rehabron wrote:The union would not be in favour of full time duties being reduced to part timerobbertwhitton wrote:Any offices having full time duties reduced to part time? I’m full time and after 37 years keen to call it a day ,but no sign of evr,making my round part time would save money and hopefully a little pay off to make me go,anything happening in other units to save yet more money?
On the subject of EVR they are not being handed out like confetti nowadys.
A buy down of hours is not as lucrative to the individual as it was in the past when RM was offering to pay a percentage of the tax being claimed by HMRC in order to reduce their office budget.
In response to your request for clarification relating to the statement issued by Royal Mail: “From October 2018, new full-time colleagues will be recruited on a 35-hour week” I can confirm that a current employee will move to 35 hours from October, if they move from part time to full time hours.
Also from the 4 pillars Agreement;
New full time employees from October 2018, recruited either from existing employees or new recruits in the core OPG grade, will be on a 35 hour week at the current hourly basic pay rate with pro-rata allowances aligned to the current full-time conditioned hours. Additional hours performed through overtime or scheduled attendance for those employees on this new contract will be paid at single rate overtime until the total hours worked align to that of our current full time contracted employees. This will be adjusted as we progress through the SWW flightpath.
So it appears 38 & 35 hours are being classed as Full-time!!
New permanent contracts of colleagues who have increased their hours to 35 is written as part-time occupation.
