Message from alan on plasma screens

Post by Big Daz »

Colleagues,

It has come to light this evening following a text, that the Plasma Screens in work units will be switched on tomorrow for around 3 minutes delivering a message from Leighton. The time of transmission or the actual content is unknown at present. Can Branches please ensure as a matter of urgency that all reps are informed of this activity; it is important that we are all aware of the spin and therefore afforded the ability to counter any spin and lies post the screenings.

In addition Dave Ward held a conference call at 3pm of Divisional Reps and Regional Secretary’s.

The issue of Royal Mail management briefing members’ that the ‘strings’ attached to the 2.5% pay cut deal have been lifted was raised. In some areas across the country there does appear to have been pockets of managers briefing this non-factual statement however in a letter received today by Dave from Green it states that the only string to be removed was the door2door issue that we already know about.

Having said this it is not beyond the realms of possibility and is probable that this string removal card will be played on either Wednesday or Thursday of this week. This may indeed be coupled with the screenings tomorrow?

Once again it is of the utmost importance that we communicate this to those on the floor and counter any underhanded spin and lies that Leighton and his hawks may peddle over the coming days.

It has also become clear that both the CWU and RML recognise that there will those who will vote yes and those who will vote no, however there will undoubtedly be the battle for the middle ground, those who are unsure or afraid of voting yes. We must ensure that we all maximise our effort during this week and up to Conference to ensure we deliver a message to all members’ that we care about their futures, we have business plan & strategy for their futures and that of Royal Mail & the POL. We are not peddling knee jerk panic driven cost cutting exercises at the expense of our members’ terms and condition and their jobs. The cost of a no vote is unthinkable and members’ must be made aware of this fact, just because the strings may go from a pay cut % they have by no means gone away and will as a matter of fact manifest themselves in Imposition and Executive action leaving us no alternative than unofficial action in the end.

We are against the clock at present to ensure we deliver for our members’ futures and we have an absolute duty as CWU activists and trade unionists to info rm and update our members’ and deliver to them the rallying call for a resounding yes vote. It is not just about the yes vote, it is about a strong yes vote unanimously across our membership. We will need to keep engaging the members’ until the final bell, continually re-enforcing our message to vote yes.

There will be additional information available targeting AGs/Part Time workers sending out a message that this will affect them also and a further two mailing from HQ to members’ homes reinforcing our message.

The ballot papers will sent out tomorrow by 2nd class post by Mail sort, Simon Massen has been made aware of this and we will deliver the postcards to members’ home accordingly to coincide with this.

If you have any queries or need any help what so ever no matter how small or large please do not hesitate to contact Barry, Dennis or I.

Kind regards

Paul

Very interesting, wonder what's afoot, how much propaganda can Laural and Hardley give us ffs.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Leighton would be ill-advised to do that. One look into those cold eyes of his , not to mention the rest of his ugly mug , and hearing
the same old spin & sh*t from him , will have most people really itching to give him a "virtual reality" style kick up the Khyber.

Go for it f%ck features, you're backing a loser with this one , that's what I'd say. :cool

Had a dvd on the telly rather than the plasma screen. Manager put it on continous play and didnt make any one watch it so nobody did hardly. I stopped watching when he said BS as after all the dignity and respect and anti bullying harrasment crap from him i felt he was a two faced beep told my DOM ive got no faith and cant listen/watch someone like that band walked back to my frame.

I got back from delivery today and the plasma screen was showing one of its brainwashing transmissions. The problem was that the only person watching it was one of the managers. His view of the broadcast - "It's f***ing s**t".

Was it people/actors holding up placards telling us not to strike? Thats what we had in the PE postcode area today!

That's the one! I only saw about 30 seconds of it, but that was enough. Another reason to vote yes!!

How desperate must he be to use little kids, pregnant women, elderly disabled I could go on but that must surely have shown even the doubters amongst us just how he will use ANYONE to get what HE wants. How much lower can he get?
yes, yes, yes, yes, YES
