and what about the wave 2 of sequencing or the extra bundle on top of that if the batch is too large to be run in one go on wave 1?Danelectro wrote:You just said you you put a bundle of D2D at the back of a bundle of sequence and have to remember the bundle of manual in your pouch/ trolley. There are 3 bundles in your explanation.clashcityrocker wrote:You have one small bundle with the D2D at the back of it.
It isn't a separate bundle.
The 3rd "bundle" you envisage doesn't exist either.
The mail from the IPS doesn't need to be carried in the hand. A small bundle per loop can simply be put in a pouch/trolley and all you need to do is remember the next one.
There aren't 3 bundles. Ever.

And what about late local redirections?
And what about late missorts?
And what about and what about?
You could spend all day thinking up excuses as to why it can't work but the probability is it would.
The machine puts the mail in order. It makes little or no sense to take it out of the tray to put it in a frame to then take it back out of the frame and put it in a tray/pouch/trolley.

a few "against" reasons, as you appear to have 100% faith that the sequence mail is correct, throw in these permutationsclashcityrocker wrote:And what about late local redirections?

missorts and redirection failures as said earlier could lead to coaching, stages then dismissal, the dom won't give a toss, they'll need to act on complaints and probably won't think twice to shat on the postie
then this process is designed to make us more efficient yes?
i regularly tweak loops once i've assessed them on a daily basis, if i feel its unbalanced that day due to 1 having more packets than usual and no large parcels to deliver i'll try to add more to the other, that idea would go straight out of the window,
you appear to be dead certain it will work, i'm 100% certain that the (say 30 mins saved) not prepping it into both frames at start will quickly be eaten up in time wasted before the end of the duty 1st complete,
again, households, will they officially be ok to nest multiple amounts if they don't come pre-prepped? because it will be impossible to deliver 3 or 4 lots correctly without feeding them into the frames

The machines don't deal with redirections, they go by the address on the letter, so you'll still need to go through your mech boxes for any redirections. What about any specials that someone has posted in a letter box? The machine won't weed them out so if you didn't go through the mech trays then that special would fail. A good few walks probably don't have their A+ up to date, you just need to look at the large number of rejects when there's bulk postings like electoral register or council tax.clashcityrocker wrote:And what about late local redirections?

What if you've got a missort in one bundle when it should have been in an earlier bundle?

Hmmm. So the plan is we hold two bundles of mail and maybe the PDA as well for those who haven't started using the holster. Then if your walk is allocated six door 2 door items for the week then each day you carry a third bundle containing one household item and go to every delivery point every day of the week. The mind boggles at the stupidity of anything approaching this fail of an idea.world class male wrote:just read a bit of the voice magazine about new delivery methods, worth a read/laugh
no 1st wave sequenced is prepped into frame, just split into bundles/loops and prep rest as usual to have 2 bundles for same addresses, guessing it saves around 6/7 mins per tub of sequenced mail and means trusting the machine to be 100% right, i reckon 99 out of 100 tubs i prep has at least 1 missort in,
then add 1 lot of households, (surprise surprise 1 didn't have any on a visit to see how its done) meaning you carry 3 bundles in your hands for the same addresses ,
now how does that system work on 3/4/5 different lots of households? officially they cannot be nested, unless come already prepared as in 1 trial d/o, which is a good idea to save time/money
even having 1 bundle "back to back" will be impossible with loops also getting households that day, and will slow us down drastically on the streets, but hey, you're out of the office 15 mins earlier so now time available for lapsing![]()
honestly don't know who dreams up these ideas, if current method isn't broken, don't try to fix it

The trials were supposed to conclude if the methods were viable but in true CWU HQ style they will agree to kick the can down the road forever and a day.If they can't conclude time saved indoor is lost outdoor within 2 months then when will they.
The last month or so has seen Pullinger (in the top 5% of earners in UK) say culture is a long term project, admit they actually dont have a collective agreement on part time variance of hours, the SWW will be absorbed or booked as OT,the pension is not the scheme they started off with, the list goes on..
Biggest mandate for IA ever and they negotiated a scratch and sniff interim agreement that has blown that huge support out the water.Meanwhile members are being suspended and sacked for following agreements that are supposedly legally binding.Cheers.

Our area rep told us this as well. The small indoor saving being outweighed by more outdoor time resulting in overtime or cut offs! Said some had reverted back to the old way because it was failing that badlyWhysoslowyehcfc wrote:Heard yesterday that these so called trials are failing..can anyone confirm this?

Why the obsession with the missorts? I don't have 100% faith in the machines in just the same way I don't have faith in any double prepper.world class male wrote:a few "against" reasons, as you appear to have 100% faith that the sequence mail is correct, throw in these permutationsclashcityrocker wrote:And what about late local redirections?

Should double prepping now be done away with because "it doesn't work?"
Why would tweaking the loops go out the window?
D2D - say you have got 1000 delivery points, you make up 200/day, neatly collated and deliver them. They don't need to be fed into a frame. They don't need to be nested. You make up bundles and deliver them from the back of the bundle. It isn't rocket engineering.
Lots of people with double slots and high rise blocks do this anyway.
Maybe they will introduce it. Maybe they won't.
Personally I couldn't care less. What I find completely bizarre is this childish "it won't work" response to anything that deviates even slightly from the way it was done on the ark.

We have a mail order company that sends out thousands of catalogues and hundreds come back marked gone away.
So on the IPS we set aside trays for the returned catalogues to avoid clogging up the pigeon holes for that firm.
The driver who delivers them picks up the trays from the IPS, takes them to his frame and proceeds to prep them into his RM 2000 frame.
When his frame is full he takes the catalogues back out and puts them in a tray ready for delivery.
Total and absolute f***ing waste of time.
But that was the way it was done on the ark, so that must be the only way to do it.
It wouldn't make any sense to do it any other way because "it won't work".
And that unfortunately is a true story.
It almost makes me embarrassed to be human.

It will make the outdoor work more challenging especially in poor weather. Whether that's worth it or not will be down to the trials.
Lots of jobs involve work that appears pointless, some supermarkets choose to display stock in pretty but ultimately pointless little shelves while others choose to leave it in boxes.Processes can be inefficient but are kept in place to protect quality or safe systems of work or to improve efficiency further down the line.
I'm open minded about whether this will work for Royal Mail but it certainly will make the job more awkward outdoor, denying that really makes no sense.
