Never do overtime in areas you don't now , always no exactly wear your going , let this be a bit of a lesson. Don't stress over it , it's not as bad as you think , explain that to the Dom , after all they won't hang you for it.

no you are not in trouble ,you are new to the job so you should have had training for the new part of walk you took out . also the lino should have given you a map for the bit you didn't know . are you in the union explain your position to the rep in your office and have them go in with you when asked to go in office for a fact finding chat . don`t worry mistakes are made all the time . have a good breakfast and get some tea at office .

how is it wilful delay? i took it out, the equipment they supplied me with to find the delivery area was faulty, there were no people out on the street to ask, the managers dont answer there phones once they have left the office and my personal phone does not have a maps app on it, i did everything i possibly could with the situation i was in to deliver the post.postslippete wrote:leolion855 wrote:well now ive checked on google where it is, I can offer to take it out at 6 tomorrow morning, then ill come back and take my round out.
What you've done is wilful delay and its not as if its a street you couldn't find....but 3 loops. What on earth were you thinking??
You are trying to redeem yourself but be aware that the managers will automatically question why you didn't ask someone while you were out there, ring them up or even check google maps on your own phone as they will assume that most people have one. Next time, think!!

Personally. I think you need to maybe take a small step back from doing so much overtime.

In future, do you not have a smart phone? With an internet browser?

First point, managers couldn't give a monkeys what time you was in this morning. Some guys routinely come in over an hour early but god knows why because they aren't helping the business by doing that, just themselves. Misunderstanding happen and what you could be looking at is a possible unexcused delay to mail, and that does get classed as misconduct. Im aware that different offices operate differently, maybe your line manager/DOM may turn a blind eye BUT you just need to cover yourself just in case they don't...
Its no good telling them the PDAs are cack or that there are no people to ask? Like you couldn't knock on a door anywhere and ask? The managers also won't be best pleased if you tell them that they don't answer their phones!! You say you took 3 loops but did you deliver any of it at all?? Im not getting at you but just trying to see things through manager's eyes. Perhaps the best bet is that you turn up early tomorrow, don't tell anyone and deliver everything - but I wonder how you are going to do that if you've got Tracked items that perhaps should have been scanned the previous day? Managers are always going to ask people if they can do overtime but sometimes you got to learn to say NO.
I would advise you before you dig yourself in any deeper is to go seek out your Union Rep in the first instance, just in case you do get called into an office to explain yourself.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Tell them the truth. You was going to do it but got a call about a personal emergency. Couldnt contact them to tell them so had to drop it back before shooting offleolion855 wrote:ill just write a resignation letter now then.

Dont be too hasty. Someone did this at my place a while back because they couldnt find where to go and they just got a slap on the wrist. Mistakes happen. Just dont do it again. Thats what you should learn from this, your only human after all.leolion855 wrote:ill just write a resignation letter now then.

It's not wilful delay, it's piss poor management. If you're loading extra crap onto people who don't know where they're going it would take literally 2 minutes to ensure that they do. With a map or even the slightest bit of guidance.postslippete wrote:leolion855 wrote:well now ive checked on google where it is, I can offer to take it out at 6 tomorrow morning, then ill come back and take my round out.

This is a failure of management. Like most problems within RM.

If they even begin to mention your mobile phone and calling them, tell them you had no credit or no mobile phone, f**k using it to ring management

This is an abject management failure, you were willing to do the work but you were let down by the equipment and inadequate planning for any provisions in such a case.
