You’re suggesting he books four or five hours on top of the time he goes over?miles_peters wrote:if you deliver it all make sure you get paid for the 4 to 5 hours work already in the frame from Saturday, plus any overtime you do.

I wonder if it was reported as a missed delivery?

There can't be official guidelines for something that isn't supposed to happen.chaotic013 wrote: just wondered if there were any official guidelines,
I'd go in Monday morning and make sure there is actually two days worth (someone might have gone out with it later Saturday). Then I'd get the manager and ask him what's happening, has he any plans for the duty. If not, say you are happy to take out whatever he wants you to take out, but you will be coming back to the office in good time to sign out and leave at your normal finish time.
Then I'd email ' justsayit ' and explain what had happened.

if he is doing 2 days worth of delivery then yes. why should he do 2 days worth of delivery for the same pay when all his colleagues will be doing one days worth of delivery? and yes if cause of RM's poor management he goes over his time he should be paid overtime on top. Even if he does 1 road that has 2 days worth of mail in the frame he should be paid for thatLaggyBand wrote:You’re suggesting he books four or five hours on top of the time he goes over?miles_peters wrote:if you deliver it all make sure you get paid for the 4 to 5 hours work already in the frame from Saturday, plus any overtime you do.

if someone had done that delivery on Saturday as overtime they would have probably got 4-5 hours pay for it

Follow the 'overunning procedure' like you would do normally. There is no agreement on this situation, it should not be happening, but by the same token you cannot approach it on the basis of having 'twice the work' as other people so will only deliver it for twice the pay! The overunning procedure does not allow for you to decide what to leave behind, it has to be agreed with the lino if tht is the approach he/she wants. You need a time to phone in to the office to give them an update if you don't agree before bagging up the round, and have to therefore take out the whole delivery or what he/she suggests.
They have a habit of saying leave the parcels in our office as if it will always make the difference required, but deliveries still overrun with that sometimes, so you still need that later phone call at an agreed time. Then the next day the parcels are still there, no-one delivers them for you, making a gradual build up inevitable, and a poorservice for the public. All because of budgetary requirements and a bonus mentality.

I’m not arguing against you, this has definitely been common practice at my place in the past, all I’m saying is it’s at the very least a grey area, after all at the bottom of (ours at least) the 552 it does state that by booking it you submit that you did actually work the hours.miles_peters wrote:if he is doing 2 days worth of delivery then yes. why should he do 2 days worth of delivery for the same pay when all his colleagues will be doing one days worth of delivery? and yes if cause of RM's poor management he goes over his time he should be paid overtime on top. It’s iffy advice what you’re giving because for example a DSM could find out, take issue with it and is the DOM going to sacrifice himself to save the OPG?

We have to work 12 hours to get 4 hours overtime. Not that I'd ever consider doing that.

This is REALLY bad advice, and i dont recommend anyone doing it as a blanket rule. If your office tends to allow this stuff then id say *maybe* do it but even then its a big risk and not one id be prepared to take.miles_peters wrote:if he is doing 2 days worth of delivery then yes. why should he do 2 days worth of delivery for the same pay when all his colleagues will be doing one days worth of delivery? and yes if cause of RM's poor management he goes over his time he should be paid overtime on top. If it has 2 days worth of mail, it doesnt take x2 times longer to deliver.
Options as always, follow cut off procedure or book the time it takes to complete.

In our DO the tracked and SD items would have been delivered and the 2D & recorded items would have been scanned as being 'not delivered'. On the Monday a deal would be made between the postie and manager based on how much mail was in the frame to be delivered before going out on delivery. As a general rule we can't book extended but in this case we might get a couple of hours overtime for delivering it all. I think the last time I delivered two days worth of mail I didn't get paid any extra though.
We got targeted with an RFID chip letter again recently though so we can't leave walks undelivered now.
