Are fares being fair ?

Post by wdo1256 »

This isn't a major issue but any advice/ views would be appertained.

In our office the new rule is that anyone who doesn’t use there car will no longer get any bus fare money unless they can show a ticket for them returning to the office.

This is a valid point, apart from people who still use their cars get paid bus fare money without any questions asked.

Do other offices still get paid fares ?

We get free bus & tube travel in Glasgow, between 07.45 - 15.00, as long as you have your ID badge and you mailbag with you.

Ours does. They haven't had a rise in ages though because the planks who should get the bus use their cars, therefore they are unable to bring in five days worth of bus tickets which the DUM insists they have to show before getting the fares increase.

We get free bus travel and we do get back any bus fares out and back in that we have to pay. But when I am heading home a lot of teh drivers since the strike have been waving me past when I try to pay.Good lads thanks.

I should add we have to bring in the tickets to get refunded. I did it once and got nearly £50 (when I first started)

There was an effort to do the same here but the rep got the lads involved to put in a grievance because they were being discriminated against - those using their cars did not have to produce bus tickets those who didn't did - but as the use of a car is not compulsory but voluntary then they cannot discriminate. They dropped the idea and those two lads got the money. This was in the cause of doing the job properly!

Thanks for the advice - I spoke to our rep today and a few of us will be putting in a grievance next week.
