afraid the thinking will be "plenty more who will fill a vacancy"
in my opinion RM are after getting rid of as many long serving posties as possible at whatever cost, then fill it with part timers reliant on overtime.
basically we are pit ponies
im open to offers 23 years service :pray

If the BT doesn't work out you might want to consider the Buses? Don't know why but I know quite a few Posties that moved onto the Buses, and enjoy the job. Good Luck don't waste your life away if you're not happy. I think a lot of Posties would jump ship but feel they've got too many years invested in the job. :cuppa

I would say the old fella as been winding himself up all morning having chuck & bag up two rounds .... I bet he's also the one that no one wants to work with? His wife left him years ago & kids don't talk to him, lives in a flat, walks to work or cycles?
Teamwork is non-extant especially with the old time posties who for years & years worked on their own, the new testing that Royal Mail now use 99% of the old timers would never pass, Royal Mail can now be more selective & employ a more rounded & intelligent individual, most only got the job due to nepotism look around your office most of the old timers should be receiving care in the community, most have mental health issues.
Good luck with finding your dream job.
