7 hr delivery span.

7 hours out delivering in 360+ days a year will almost certainly wear your joints and cause you untold problems however long your body can take that sort of punishment.

how many miles walking a day do you cover?

to me that sort of duty should not be allowed its polain and simply too much for the body to cope with.

Heard talk about these 7 hour spans in our place recently, something about they may have people just doing prep work only and others doing outdoor only, 7 hours walking in all weather's, how much sickness will that bring about, it's bad enough now.

Seven hour delivery span isn't really going to work is it. Probably most importantly how long are you expected to hold everything in before you need to visit the toilet ??? At some DOs mentioned on posts on this forum Postie's might have to drive 20 to 30 minutes before they reach their first delivery point. They might be delivering in a city or built up area with no public conveniences. It's a bit easier for a man I suppose but what is a female postie supposed to do ??? I really feel the CWU should set an outdoor delivery span at no more than six hours.

Your point still stands. However nobody is out delivering 360+ days per year. 230'ish days per year is more accurate, taking in to account Sundays, rest days and annual leave.

Why not have two spans with return to office and a break meal relief in between the two spans or is this the stuff of fiction but we had this 20 years ago!

I don't think a 6 hour delivery span predominately up and down stairs is sustainable.There has to be a limit and some sort of hybrid duty created where its stairs followed by a compulsory break and then the rest of the shift parcel drops or other workThe type of mixed mail delivery we do is very different to a yodel or dpd driver.It looks like the CWU has conveniently gone to sleep on all this stuff judging by their response to the recently published delivery office survey by RM.

The main DO is a 30 min drive away.we are in the sticks.the local PO is in a spar shop/ petrol station.

If no toilet facility is made clear on route. You're quite within your right to return to office. On a 7hr span in cold weather you may even need to go twice. Only need to do it once and start cutting-off. Manager will soon sort it.
