Managers should be checking that all mail is delivered every day and if not they should take steps to make sure it goes out the next day and put it it their report lol.

Either you have the time to do it or you don't.
If you do, then you don't need more posties do you?
The problem of recruitment and retention won't go away though.
Despite being a well paid job for what we do, it is a particularly brutal job for part time staff.
Nobody seems interested in addressing that though.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Its far from brutal for part timers in my office. Cushy 3 day week and can work days on overtime because of vacancies if they want to. A fair few have turned down the chance to go full time because they love how theyve got it. If i could afford to drop from full time id do it in a heartbeat in my officeclashcityrocker wrote:We lapse 1.Chris413 wrote:It's pretty obviouse realy, we need more posties all over the country, I don't think there's an office out there that isn't lapsing 4 or 5 frames a day.

We are currently having great difficulty filling a part time position as the candidates only want so many hours otherwise the benefit money they are receiving from the government/tax payers will be reduced. That is a possible reason for some not wanting any more hours.

Tis ludacrous how the system works, I've worked a number of times with a single lady who literally won't book overtime because it'll screw her tax credits up when hmrc twig a number of months later. One guy quit collections because he worked it out he was a pound an hour better of because of it. System has been that way since I can remember through both red and blue Governments too. Crazy really.Celgar wrote:We are currently having great difficulty filling a part time position as the candidates only want so many hours otherwise the benefit money they are receiving from the government/tax payers will be reduced. Anyone remember the old days when the managers would be out delivering until late any mail left in the morning's, now they just leave it and go home early apart from one line manager who stays until his time .

That's not the case in my office they just like the 3 days but when feel like it will work some of their days off on overtime. Get Saturday to wednesday off every 4 weeks and they all say they wouldn't want to have to work 5 days unless it's their choice
