Every March and September I believe hours are supposed to be reviewed and contracts offered. That hasn’t happened in my DO since 2015 apparently. I was given the job and told I could be made full time eventually, yet here I am doing FT hours on a PT contract and they’re buying out Full timers and wanting to reduce my hours.
It’s a shame, but I told them if my hours drop below 35 a week I’ll be leaving and shan’t be working my notice when I get another job.

It could be seen like that but I disagree. I would gladly work my time and go home every day but when others are going home early every day they don't see it like I do. Therefore a consensus cannot be reached and we are where we are. In most jobs you work 9 to 5 or whatever it is then you go home. For many reasons RM isn't like that as there are so variables.

ive seen people with unfair workloads stick to their guns before, and cut off, cut off.... eventually something does get done, it takes a while but it does happen.

Most seem to give up after the hassle they receive from management. Don’t give in to them I say, it’s just them throwing toys out the pram and blaming you instead of blaming the workload of the walk itself.

thing is that all these additional minutes taken away means that the postman has to walk faster and faster , cut corners more often write out less dockets and cut across gardens more especially the bullied part timers who are worried on zero contracts.
I have been a postie for 16 years and a few years ago I thought why am I rushing round and cutting corners just to complete .
Since then I go the same reasonable speed if its a light or heavy day and just cut off if I don't think I can complete.
Too many posties these days are jogging on heavy days so they can finish on time its ludicrous they have mistakes miss deliveries etc just down to rushing.
Too many newbies are scared of the bullying culture of management not to have a break and take lapsing.
Just ask the DOM to test your walk and tell you how to save the time on your walk

i guess some people cant be helped....you cant blame CWU for these people.

well you can.....if newbie part timers are being bullied into completing, with the threat of their contacts not being extended, I think they do have to shoulder some responsibility. A big poster detailing the cut-off procedure in every office would be a helpful tool of reference, or even a WTL dedicated to explaining it (stop laughing) .........

So how many hours will the full timers be doing on a Tuesday and a saturday

Early in October apparently. There is a union disagreement over it in our area over it not being taken from the end of duty time so we will have to wait longer. I'm in no hurry for it to happen anyway.

Why would it be done for free? You'll be claiming an extra 12 mins a day in overtime, or if you regularly finish early now, you will be working more of your hrs like some do every day anyway. Where's the problem in that?

Why not? It was one of the benefits sold to us as part of the new agreement.

12 minutes off each day is neither here nor there. Considering since job and finish has ended most people are dragging their walks out to get back bang on time. Won’t really notice it if people stop dragging it out so much. This is just what I have observed being a float/reserve. I just go with the flow. Whatever my present work partner does I go along with.
