Hey

I’m new to RM, I’m in my first week, currently finding my feet. What’s everybody’s start and finish times?

Thanks

Start and finish times

Mine appear totally random but was told by people I work with to start @ 9:15 except Tues & Sat which is 9. My usual finish time is around 2/3 pm but today after 4. Tuesday this week was around 1:30, so totally dependant on workload.

I now tend to start at 9 each day to ensure a timely exit but this was my choice and no one has questioned it.

The hours on my sign in sheet are 8:45 till 2:30 I think.

Thanks for the reply,

I’m trying to get my head around things in my first week.

The job was advertised as 25 hour permanent contract 8.30 - 1.30. When I met the manager he said this won’t work because most people work till 2.15 but get paid till 3 with breaks.

I have agreed to put my contract up to 27.5 hour week. I’m currently working 8.30 - 2.30 sometimes 3.00 without a break!

I’ve been told I can only claim overtime after 2.15 because I’m paid until 2.15, but my hours would be 5.5 a day which would mean paid 8.30 - 2.00? That would be 27.5 week contract?

Is this right because I’m wondering why the extra 15min is added on. He mentioned about working a 9 day fortnight?? Lost on how it all works

Any feedback appreciated

Three possible answers.

1. He is right and he needs to explain it so that you understand it.
2. He is bullshitting you.
3. He doesn't know what he is talking about and is just waffling.

Not knowing your manager, or knowing what you shift patterns are/local agreements are its impossible to say which one is right. However in all 3 cases if possible see a rep or a friendly postie to clarify.

Il be sure to ask a rep tomorrow. I thought it would be simple as, my hours are 8.30 - 2.00 so anything after that is classed as overtime. But I guess things like this are never simple lol

Depends on your contract hours and you office generally you all finish at the same time so work back your contractual hours on the given days and bob's your uncle every office has different start times because the mail arrives at different times because of dispatch time distance from mail centre!
