Interview

Post by Bethandrew93 »

Hi I have an interview for a driving post position with Royal Mail. I have a slight issue! I was never actually aware that you had to change your name after marriage on your driving license (I know naughty me) I have the correct address on my license just not the right name. Would I be able to take my license with me for the interview and then literally send the form of for change of name straight after or will I be sent away and not even be considered for interview because my details are wrong on my license? Im not sure whether to ring Royal Mail and ask to speak to the manager to ask if this would be ok? I am unable to do it today with it being bank holiday Monday. I’m going out of my mind and I don’t know what to do :( any info or past experience would be greatly appreciated :)

You don't actually have to change your name on your driving licence, you're entitled to continue to use your maiden name if you wish but you obviously have to have made a positive choice so you can't show up with some documents in your maiden name and some in your married name, as a rule of thumb all of your documents should be in the same name as your bank account details.

If there isn't enough time to get the licence changed before the interview you will have to take it with you as it is and explain the circumstances. Maybe also take your marriage certificate to prove you are the same person. Then afterwards get the name changed.

Thank you for the replies! I am not actually registered as married in the UK as I got married abroad and all my documents are still in my maiden name it’s just that I stupidly put my married name on my cv and on my application but I have changed my name on my profile and I will just have to explain in my interview!
