Not a very interesting story really.

Yes I knocked on to obtain a signature and a rather attractive young lady answered wearing some very agreeable summer pj's!LaggyBand wrote:Oooh you took a risk and paid for it. all the 2d scans aren't scanned to any deliverys and mail centres don't scan every item as they don't have time so they just scan a few , but the company are on about putting a barcode on every parcel and pkt and then they will be scanned to every delivery so if you get 100 pkts and another duty gets 10 then it will show .

In my experience of 2D barcode scoring in our DO they are all scanned by the MC . As long as you deliver all your mail correctly no one is going to worry if one walk has more parcels than another one. RM can't control or dictate what people buy.worktotime wrote:all the 2d scans aren't scanned to any deliverys and mail centres don't scan every item as they don't have time so they just scan a few , but the company are on about putting a barcode on every parcel and pkt and then they will be scanned to every delivery so if you get 100 pkts and another duty gets 10 then it will show .

The only things that will be scanned in a MC are specials and Tracked. Given current staffing levels in MCs you'll be lucky if anything else is scanned.
If RM want a barcode on every parcel then in MCs they'd need to at least triple the number of PDA batteries, plus probably double the number of spares and probably double the number of PDAs and finger scanners. They'll also need to increase staffing levels as the few seconds it'll take to scan each item will add up over the course of a shift

i can tell you all 2ds aren't all scanned , as I ask the question to some r/m guru when they was going on about % rates and said no as they don't have time . all I was saying is each delivery will get all there parcels scanned to there walk . then when they say you've only scanned 10 0ut of 20 , you can ask to look at the figures ,Celgar wrote:In my experience of 2D barcode scoring in our DO they are all scanned by the MC . The only way that will happen is if DOs scan them to walks, there's no chance in hell of that happening in MCs as we've not got the timeworktotime wrote:all I was saying is each delivery will get all there parcels scanned to there walk . then when they say you've only scanned 10 0ut of 20 , you can ask to look at the figures ,

If the 2D barcode items haven't been scanned before they get to the DOs then how does 'the system' know how many have arrived for each walk every week and whether or not they have been scanned by us before being delivered??worktotime wrote:i can tell you all 2ds aren't all scanned , as I ask the question to some r/m guru when they was going on about % rates and said no as they don't have time . all I was saying is each delivery will get all there parcels scanned to there walk . then when they say you've only scanned 10 0ut of 20 , you can ask to look at the figures ,Celgar wrote:In my experience of 2D barcode scoring in our DO they are all scanned by the MC . I think the simple answer is, they don't know.If the 2D barcode items haven't been scanned before they get to the DOs then how does 'the system' know how many have arrived for each walk every week and whether or not they have been scanned by us before being delivered??
When they first introduced them and was on everyones backs about the % being delivered on a walk, they must have been scanning them in but since then, they haven't been tracking them much at all is my guess.
They will have the stats on how many there are in the system and the % of these that get scanned at delivery though just the same as signed for.

So do we ignore the rectangular barcodes in the top right of letters?
Just scan the square ones? Never told what to do and most colleagues say the never bother unless its recorded/tracked/special/square2dthing.

and of course most of the chinese little packets, the ones starting with SB don`t bother, they won`t scan, most of the rest will.

I wish these p***ks would tidy up their address stickers. One parcel had no less than seven barcodes on it. And the PDA kept scanning every one bar the the right one!
