Yes, I agree. It's not a satisfactory state of affairs. But it suits many managers not to annoy the, often quite senior, staff who are knocking off early for one reason or another (generally having a light duty and/or starting a bit early) while remorselessly harrying those, often newer, employees who have more onerous duties and who genuinely struggle to complete. Part of the issue is that the former will not adjust their practices to assist the latter in standing up to those managers. It is largely the fault of managers, but it's also the fault of those of us who are basically playing the same game.Postie45 wrote:
but managers have been complicit with knowingly allowing people to continue the job and finish practice, until the managers in a particular unit actually come out and say no one goes home early then its still allowed. It would be very simple for a union rep to put this case forward if a manager decided one day to conduct someone for it after allowing it to go on.

The only way I can see to stop the manager bullying is to put a machine on the wall, swipe when you start, swipe when you finish, this is what you get paid and the Dom can’t change it. They’ve got pda actuals to double check if you actually worked those hours or not. And, get rid of wilful delay, this only ever seems to be used as a tool to create a culture of fear around job security within RM. Again, they have pda actuals so can see where you’ve been and attempted delivery. Maybe something the union can think about?
